This looked great on the show. It wasn't quite so great at home. The whole family voted to not make it again. Plus it got a lot of dishes/utensils dirty.

Yes. It was a little more time-consuming than a lot of recipes for beef stew but it was SO good. It was hearty and included ingredients not normally found in stew.....like sun-dried tomatoes. The red wine marinade made it extra tasty! I served it crumbled over homemade white cornbread. This recipe is definitely a "keeper"!

Wow, this was simply great! Complex flavors and heart warming goodness. Allow three hours for meal prep.

If you like cabernet sauvignon, you will love this stew. I followed the directions exactly and it came out perfect. It really wasn't any harder than any other stew I have prepared, but its flavor was quite unique. Everyone at my table loved it.

Made this tonight after seeing it on BFC yesterday. Excellent, perfect flavor. The red wine, garlic and bay leaf marinade overnight really enhanced the beef. I personally thought the chunks were a bit big and will cut them somewhat smaller next time. The rosemary imparted just enough flavor without being overwhelming, as rosemary can be. I used about half a large stalk. I did plut the oven on 275 as we left for a short sail and didn't want it to bubble over. When we got back I increased it to 300 for the last hour of cooking. It really could have used probably another half hour or so, but it smelled so awesome and we were hungry, so we ate it and it was delicious anyway. Again, if cooked the full time at 300 it probably would have been fine. All in all, this is a great recipe, the first of Ina's that I have made, and I wholeheartedly recommend it. Serve it with bread to sop up the broth.

My family loved this beef stew recipe and it was not as hard to prepare , as I thought it might be, but I baked my beef stew in the oven a little longer than the 2 hours 20 mins., and I left the Beef stew in the covered pot in the oven on warm, until my family arrived home for dinner..... It even tasted better the next day... Great Recipe !!
