I used used a round Italian loaf as that's all my grocery store had. I used fresh minced garlic in place of the paste. I cooked on an indoor grill. Was pretty good although the fresh bits of garlic tend to burn on the grill. That must be why she uses the paste. I would try this seasoning combination again maybe under the broiler. Probably wouldn't burn the garlic if I wasn't worried about the grill marks.

I absolutely love garlic, and I thought this bread while yummy didn't have enough of a garlic flavor. I used the indoor cooking method and I think I might have gotten better flavor if I had grilled it.

That garlic paste is some nasty stuff. That and the artificial smoke flavoring ruined what could have been a nice accompanyment to the excellent briskit

This was a BIG HIT at our house. They didn't carry the Texas toast at the store I went to,( go figure I live in Texasbut they did have a specialty bread section and I had them cut it in large slices. They even gave me some of their garlic spead for free! I used their spread with the rest of the recipe and it was outstanding! I will make this again.

The garlic paste was bitter and tasted awful. The copious amount of butter ensures a wet and greasy piece of toast.
