I follow the ingredients pretty much as is - except I fry real bacon and only drain the beans about halfway. However, I then bake them at 350 degrees for about 30 minutes. This gets rid of the strong alcohol taste and blends the flavors more and they get thick and gooey. I've been making this recipe for about five years and everyone is excited when I make it for a get-together.

Does this woman ever cook or make a drink without booze for any meal? We will be leaving her recipes alone.

Followed the recipe, with exception of using real bacon (w/bacon grease, and the results were exceptional. The combination of sweet and salty were well balanced. Ran out of Jim Beam for my second preparation so we will see how JD fairs.

The beans were really good. Didn't have bourbon, molasses or chili sauce, so used whiskey, sorgum and cocktail sauce with a little chili powder.
We really loved them.
Will definitely make again.

Do yourself a favor and dont waste good ingredients on this recepie. Open a can of Bush's beans and drink the alcohol, you will be happier! These beans fed the disposer... what a waste!

I gave this a 4 because I havn't tried it yet. I like the idea of bourbon but would burn it first to get rid of the boozy flavor. Has nayone tried burning the bourbon first?

The addition of the bourbon and molassis is a good idea. I will always add these ingredients to my sweet baked beans!
I also like all of Sandra's ideas for table settings. Keep up the good work!

This recipe was so easy and fast. I took it to a pot-luck and everyone was asking about them and wanted the recipe.
