i've been making this recipe for 3 years in a row and i'm never going to change. this recipe rocks!! the turkey comes out so flavorful and tender. the gravy is beyond delicious. dont change anything. just keep basting!
by the way, to halve a garlic head crosswise means to take the whole garlic bulb (not each individual clove and cut it so that each clove is cut in half (this allows for the fragrance to be released.

What does it mean to halve the garlic head crosswise? Are you supposed to take all the cloves of garlic from a bunch? Are you supposed to take off the "skin" of the garlic. Please explain.

I made this for our Thanksgiving last week. It was awesome, and the best part was the gravy!! Way to go.

I usually change my turkey recipe every year. This was the must perfect turkey I ever made. I will never change my recipe again, this one is a keeper. Also the gravy turned outstanding. My family and I were so impressed.

This turkey turned out perfect for our thanksgiving dinner! I am 20 years old and me and my best friend made this for our college roomates. It was really moist and flavorful, we used fresh rosemary and sage. Amazing!

I am 49 years old and cooked my first turkey last Thanksgiving, using this recipe. Even my mom, the expert in cooking, was impressed with my bird!!!!

A group of 20 people ranging in age from 1 to 55 couldn't get enough of this turkey. We made it last Thanksgiving for the first time and 3 days after my Grandmothers death the conversation turned from morbid to raving about the bird. Not only did it taste fantastic but it was a distraction and outlet from all the hurt my family was expirencing. There was only bones left of a 25lb. turkey!
