This was simple, and delicious! Agree with the other reviewers that the cardamon and ginger tasted wonderful and exotic. I used both frozen and fresh okras, to see if there was any difference. The fresh okras had slightly better texture, but the frozen ones were very good too!

I just harvested onions, tomatoes and okra from my Dad's garden. I made this for dinner and my family devoured it. Will definitely make this again.

This is an easy and great tasting recipe. This solves what to do with okra! It tastes great without the spice of paradise. I'm guessing it is better with it but who has that! ha.

The recipe is great, although coming from my culinary background, I do not like the taste of slimy Okra. Here's what I would do to get around it, wash and dry the Okra, [with a towel], then heat a little oil in a pan. Note that this is not deep frying, just a little oil in the pan enough to be able to saute the okra. The oil has to be hot enough, else the Okra will take time. Once the oil is hot, the okra can be in and out in less than 2 minutes.

Follow the rest of the recipe as is, notice the Okra is crisp and not slimy :-

Went to the Farmers Market today and picked up some okra and tomatoes and realized I didn't have any idea what to do with them. Thank goodness for AB! This is delicious!!!! Will definitely make this again!!!

Wonderful dish. It was like a big warm, bowl of HEARTY, comforting vegetable stew and so healthy too! First time I ever made okra as the main ingredient in the dish. I've had it in gumbo but not like this before.

I didn't bother to peel the tomatoes and also omitted the olive oil to lighten it up even more. Still came out great. Was Surprised how flavorful it was. Thanks Alton!

First time using one of Alton's recipes. Blessed with South Carolina fresh organic okra and tomatoes this week! the okra tased so good with the spices and onions, I decided to leave the tomatoes out for a salad. Only had crystalized ginger, but boy was it good. LOVE the cardamon in this. I now know how great this spice is. this actually turned into an awesome alternative to fried okra for me. Thanks Alton, even though I accidentally butchered the recipe.:

I left out the ginger, paradise and cardamom and it was still the best okra I've ever had.
