I made this for a dinner party and it was a great hit. Most people wanted seconds. And the best part very little work required.

I followed the recipe as is and the soup came out great! I cooked it on low for 8 hours and it was on warm for 4 hours before I got home. The onions melted in my mouth. I did the bread separate in the broiler with provolone cheese. I will be making this recipe often!

So tasty and so delicious! I do add extra onions and I carmelize them first like the other reviews suggested then throw it all in the crockpot and it is wonderful!

Easy and very yummy. Even my children loved it! The Gruyere cheese is worth the splurge. Yum!

Very good recipe and so easy to make. Just put it in the slow cooker and stir once or twice and it's done! Needs to cook on HIGH for about 6 hours instead of 4. I used the Gruyere cheese, but you could substitute a cheaper version of swiss cheese if needed. Yummy!!!

I think this dish really needs the full 8 hours or more. I tried cooking on high for four hours...the onions were still white and crunchy. Since dinner was in an hour I tranferred it to a soup pot and finished it on the stove top. I'll try thinner slices and all day crock next time.

This was the best onion soup I've ever made! I sliced the onions thin, then cut them in half (easier to eat . The only other thing I did was add red wine and I think that really made it sooooo delicious!

Made it in the crock pot on a busy day, had to add some boiullion cubes, cause i felt it needed a little more salt (i used the low sodium broth to keep it healthy, but it came out absolutely amazing, everyone loved it!

This recipe is the best recipe for French Onion soup. By the time it's all done, the onions are like butter and they melt in your mouth.
We used our leftovers to marinate ribs in and we also made AWESOME gravy with it.
You really can't go wrong with this one.
