I didn't have any dark rum at the time I made it so I improvised and used Cruzan vanilla rum. The best hot chocolate I ever had!!!

Any lover of hot chocolate NEEDS this. But a warning once you taste this there is no way you can go back to instant. Lovely to have when people come over (just pre measure everything in saucepan then voila easy to melt when ready. I like it without alcohol but if you don't have rum just experiment with whatever alcohol you have - its great with brandy, whiskey - whatever you have try it.
Can't believe the taste of the recipe just perfection all together.

I make hot cocoa all the time--with milk and cocoa powder--but this recipe absolutely blew every other one away. It was like liquid chocolate--the right amount of sweetness and just the right about of alcohol. I used half bittersweet chocolate and half semi-sweet; kept the honey and brown sugar, and it was the perfect sweetness.

I didn't put the chocolate in immediately. Without it, it tastes almost like cinammon vanilla icecream. After putting the chocolate in, it was even better!

I'm not particularly fond of honey and would never have thought of putting it in hot chocolate before I saw Nigella's take on it. I'm glad I put aside my skepticism and tried it; this drink is amazing! It has become my standard receipe for hot chocolate.

What a nice spirited hot drink. I have been looking for the perfect winter drink. I think I've found it.

The best hot chocolate recipe I've run across. Much easier than the cocoa powder versions and much tastier too. We only used 1 TBLS of dark rum, but may add 2 next time.

    Love it, love Nigella!
