Recipe is outstanding! Finding a paper bag is a real problem! Usually, the paper bags you find have writing on them and, unless you love the smell of ink all through your food, you need to find a plain paper bag to cook in. An alternative is parchment paper and it works equally as well.

I flash roast asparagus in a 450 oven on a regular basis and thought I'd give this a try for something different but didn't like it at all. Bay leaf and asparagus is not a good combination and the paper bag gave it a funny taste. It's much easier to just toss in olive oil and throw in a high heat oven. That way the tips come out nice and crispy.

This is the best way to cook asparagus. We have done this many times and it always turns out perfect. Thank you Tyler!

This is a great way to cook Asparagus! It takes very little effort and very little cleanup. The outcome is perfectly cooked asparagus with a light lemony taste. Just be careful not to let them cook too long if you are using thin ones.

If you're using a medium thickness of asparagas, leave the bag in for closer to 25 minutes. On the show I couldv'e sworn he also put a bit of oil in the bag but it doesn't show up in the recipe--perhaps I was wrong. I like the addition of the bay leaf which adds an interesting accent. This recipe is probably best when asparagas are very fresh and at their peak. Use your best olive oil too for drizzling over the finished asparagas. I'd probably use a basic cooking oil to oil the bag, however.

I liked how easy this is to do. I didn't wet the paper bag with Olive Oil. I wet the bag with water. I do this with day old bread to freshen it. It worked with this recipe. Saved the oil for the Asparagus.

Tried this the night we saw it on TV. Great idea. Great flavors. Only, we cooked it for 12 minutes as requested, and after we opened them and tried them, they were too al dente for my taste. I would have left them in 5 minutes longer.
