omg!! i love this recipe. i usually can't make a good biscuit. i thin i over work them, but using my mixer as you did made a huge difference. since it was just me and my boyfriend.... i cut the recipe in half and used frozen green onions. i also cooked the frozen green onions in a little olive oil and cool it before i added it. came out great. oh i cut everything in half except the onions, and made it very flavorful. can't wait to make more of this and i will try adding cheese next time.

I freakin' LOVE THESE! I converted them to Gluten Free and it was INCREDIBLY easy. Most things take a lot of effort, time, and resources to convert over to GF - I just changed the flour (Red Mill bread mix and added 1/2 Tbs baking powder and they were perfect! I have missed biscuits SO BAD! I'm from the south - it's a staple. Thanks Ina! You're recipes rock my face off. : (and YES! Add cheese, it's YUMMY!

These are wonderful. I used celantro and green onions and also added 1 cup of cheddar cheese. My family loved them. I served them with some home made chicken noodle soup. I'll definitely make these again and again. Thanks "barefoot contessa" love your show!

Question: Can the dough be made a day ahead and frozen?

Ina, thank you! My boyfriend loves biscuits. Made these for our Thanksgiving dinner. Used fresh parsley, dried thyme and rubbed sage. Wonderful. Only note, used much more herbs than specified, as any biscuit mix tends to devour the flavourings. Nonetheless, fabulous and much appreciated. Again, thank you for sharing this recipe. He is already talking about another batch!

Fluffy, light, melt in your mouth biscuits. I used closer to 1 cup of half and half. Only used 1/3 cup of chives to see how they tasted(very delicate flavor of chive and will do full 1/2 cup next time. Wow!
