TERRIBLE RECIPE! THERE MUST BE A MISPRINT!!!
I made this recipe for my neighbor, and when I tested it, it tasted like BURNED SOAP! It was disgusting! I think it should be 2 TEASPOONS of baking powder not 2 TABLESPOONS! It was terrible!!!

I gave this 4 stars because on the show, Ina added chopped walnuts and orange zest and everyone agreed it was better that way, so why leave it out of the printed recipe?!
Also for Ladydelei: It says "small-diced DRIED strawberries" in the ingredients list.
Otherwise, they are great with the nuts and orange zest.

Good scones I think, not too sweet and texture is nice but my husband wanted a little more sweetness for scones. This is more like biscuit I guess. Good though!

The overwhelming taste of butter completely masked the taste of the strawberries. Came out like more of a biscuit than a scone.

I read several other reviews before responding and felt I needed to clarify. No, this is not a very sweet scone, but most scones are meant to be more savory than sweet. Adding an orange glaze does sweeten it up quite a bit. Also, this scone came out much for "fluffy" than others I have tried. Definitely a keeper...

Fierce! That’s what I think of this recipe!
The recipe on this website IS NOT the one used on the original episode. I took the liberty of tweaking the sugar amount so the scones taste like sweet scones ought to. Here goes everyone!
- FIVE 5 tablespoons of sugar (instead of the 2 tablespoons listed- 1 1/2 teaspoons of fresh orange zest (I used zest of 1 WHOLE medium Navel Orange- 1/2 cup of ROASTED walnuts...that's how much Ina used in the episode - 3/4 pound of unsalted butter = 3 sticks of butter - 3/4 cup of dried strawberries = approx. 1 whole 9 oz. bag of dried strawberries
** After I brushed my cut out scones dough w/ the egg wash I sprinkled Sugar In The Raw or a similar coarse demerara or turbinado brown sugar instead of the white sugar used in making the dough for an excellent texture variation & another dimension of sweetness** TRY IT! It really does elevate the scones..
I hope this helps everyone. Good Luck, Enjoy & Happy Baking everyone out there! P.E.A.C.E.
