The only tea I drink is decaf green tea at night, so I was glad to see others have tried and loved this cookie using other tea flavors, why not! I have Earl Grey and Peppermint tea on hand for my son when he visits. Have made a shortbread cookie like this using poppy seeds. Now I can simply swap out the poppy seeds for tea leaves, same recipe. What a nice idea to give as a gift to for someone who loves tea, someone convalescing in hospital or at home to pair with a box of tea...a great little cookie idea to have on hand.

I love shortbread cookies and when I saw Claire make these, I knew I had to try them. I don't have loose tea so I dumped out 6 tea bags worth of earl grey tea for the 2 TBS called for. For some reason, my baked goods never turn out, but these turned out PERFECT! I had to leave them in an extra 3-5 minutes to get the brown edges. Judging by the other reviews, it sounds like I'll be able to use up the misc flavored tea bags I have in the pantry. What a fun treat! I love watching Claire. She's fun, gorgeous, interesting, and her recipes are easy and delicious!

I'm a new fan of the show but have become an instant junkie for Claire's 5 Ingredient fixes! I recently made these cookies with a few changes...
I used Vanilla Carmel tea (I love that you can play around with the flavor here!, I let my dough refrigerate over night, and I baked them at 350 degrees for about 10-12 minutes. They were so delicious!!
Thank you for such an interesting, fun and EASY recipe!!!

I agree with the baking time maybe needing to be a couple minutes longer for crunchy shortbread.
Though I haven't read through all the other comments, and perhaps someone else already mentioned this, I'm wondering how these might be with jasmine green tea...? maybe next weekend...

I've made these cookies a couple of times, and every time they've turned out great.
I have made substitutions of the tea leaves depending on the occasion that they are made for, and it's not gone bad yet. But I've noticed leaving them to bake for about 2-3 minutes more to get them golden, though that's my own preference.

As soon as I saw this recipe I called my cousin who is equally excited to try them!! i am completely eager to try the other tea variations suggested. Celestial Seasonings Ginger Peach Tea comes to mind with anticipatory glee.. THANKS!
I am blown away by the plagiarism brouhaha. It is petty and entertaining honestly. The accuser(s clearly have no real experience in the kitchen. Because if i take a recipe and I change it slightly, the original Author may not even Want to claim it as Theirs. What if my change made the recipe Less stellar. This is part of why I always admit when I've changed something from a recipe. This doesn't even mean that Claire got it from anywhere but her Stellar Little Head. LOOK at how many people took the idea and Ran with it w/other tea flavors. WE ARE FOODIES> We Think and Think about FOOD.
And I agree wholeheartedly with the comments that lead to; you might Think you Invented a Recipe but if you look, you're going to find it Somewhere, even if its from a recipe from 100, 200 hundred years ago. That's LIFE. And MARTHA is Constantly being accused of not giving her 'People' Credit for their Recipes, Ideas, HELP. How special to try and defend something that isn't even HERS.
