Leave out the beef and you have a modernized version of a classic Sicilian recipe, pasta con il pesto alla trapanese. Giada uses smoked almonds instead of ordinary blanched ones, and adds a little lemon zest and juice, which I find lend a refreshing zing to the dish - especially welcome on a hot summer day. Goes to show how subtle changes can improve even an otherwise already very tasty dish.

This was so good! Next time I would probably make it without the almonds, but only cause I don't really like them! It was a nice change from spaghetti.

Nice work Giada!! Again you have created a unique dish out of kitchen staples. The blend of the almonds, basil and lemon were fantastic. I used leftover tenderloin in the recipe both times and it was a great!! Now i have a recipe to make a Take 2 out of Filet Mignon!!! Thanks for keeping my cooking interesting!

Although the meat is a bit expensive it is well worth the price! The seasonings are simple and the meat just melts in your mouth.
My husband was making some homemade salsa and grilled a few too many roma tomatoes so I added 3 to the sauce.
Also, I had some fresh oregano and thyme on hand so I put them in with the basil.
    Delicious meal!!!!

Amazing!!! So delicious and a wonderful twist on spaghetti. My little kids loved it too and one is a very picky eater. We will make this again and again.
