I've made this multiple times. Most recently was just before Christmas for me and my hubby. I can not think of a better version of Chicken Cacciatore than this recipe. Everything plays so well together. The mushrooms are so wonderful and the rosemary is crucial!! Don't skip the rosemary. Make this!!

My son and I enjoy cooking together. He found the recipe this weekend and we prepared it together for the rest of the family. Everyone loved it. Make sure to have some good Italian or French bread to soak up the sauce. This is a keeper.

This is THE best chicken cacciatore recipe I have ever made!! It is well worth the time and effort. The rosemary and balsamic vinegar are essential to this recipe. They lend a depth and heartiness to the dish that is amazing! I have made this recipe on many different occasions, and everybody loves it. It not only tastes incredible, but is a beautiful dish, as well - especially if you use multicolored bell peppers (yellow, red, orange, green. If there are any leftovers, they never last long. It also freezes and reheats well, so make a bunch and put some of it in the freezer for a busy day. You won't be sorry you did!!

This was very tasty and robust-with the following changes-I dredged the chicken in flour after salting & peppering it (helps with thickening the sauce, then browned it. I used white wine (3/4 cup, chicken stock (3/4 cup not broth(if you want thicker sauce-omit the stock, after adding the tomatoes I also added tomato paste (taking care of the thin sauceI added oregano, the diced tomatoes already had sweet peppers in it, so I did not add any more. I did not add hot peppers. In my opinion Chicken Cacciatore is not supposed to have hot peppers in it. A shake of chili flakes is sufficient and Chicken Cacciatore isn't supposed to have honey in it either. I added parsley at the end. Supposed to also have Calamati olives in it-but I don't like them so I did not add. If it was made as shown in BF's recipe I know I wouldn't have eaten it.

For a single guy...I really liked this dish. It's great for a dinner date because you feel somewhat of a "chef" and not just "cooking something to eat". Surprisingly enough, the wine, and the vinegar (added at the end of the cooking time melded with the other sauce ingredients very well. Loved the amount of mushrooms in the dish but I think I'll slice them next time as opposed to chopping for presentation wise. And as a matter of preference, I would make it just a bit more spicy.
