Delicious recipe. I've made it several times and it disappears in no time flat. I've only had two small issues: First time I made it the dumplings were too salty (only the dumplings, not the rest of the dish. After that I used either 1/2 tsp. table salt or 1 tsp. Kosher salt and they were great. Second issue is that my sauce never thickens up very well, even after cooking the specified 15 minutes (or longer. It hasn't been that big a deal because it does thicken as it sits.
As other reviewers have reported, there doesn't seem to been enough sauce for the chicken/veg mix so I have also added additional stock to make more sauce (and when I did I added proportionately more flour, so that isn't the reason it hasn't thickened properly :-
Regardless of these few little issues I've encountered, it's a delicious recipe and I will continue to make it.

one whole tablespoon of baking powder is way too much. Knocked that down to 1.5 tsp and used only one egg, as the first batch just didn't taste good, "eggy" and somewhat metallic-tasting. It was OK, but I definitely like the Neely's recipe better.

This is the best! I was raised eating my granny's chicken and dumplin's and they were good, very plain bisquit dough and chicken and butter and milk, salt and pepper and some onions. This recipe takes the cake! This will be the one I make from now on. Thanks Tyler

I was dying to have "real" chicken and dumplings not the pasta rolled dumplings you mainly find when you eat out. This was EXCELLENT! My kids loved it, the chicken was so tender and the dumplings were perfectly light and fluffy. I did change the amount of stock i put in though. As I was cooking it seemed like 6 cups was very little and wasnt going to go a long way I used the entire stock that I had from the chicken. It was real good this way so I think when remaking again Im making this a permanent modification. Enjoy!

Just got done making this for dinner & it was delicious! The only little change I made was to up the chicken stock to 9 cups so that we had extra "juice"--that meant I also had to up the thickening(actually stirred 2 TBS of cornstarch into the shredded chicken just so the liquid was nice and thick. BUT the taste on this, the consistency of the soup/juice/sauce were all perfect. So glad there are leftovers so we can have it for dinner tomorrow too!

This is a Great recipe, it was easy and I will definitely make this again. My family loved it. I made small to medium dumplings. I had enough dough to do another batch of dumplings, which worked out great...

Delicious every time! I love making this dish because it's yummy and a crowd pleaser. My only suggestion would be not to make to dumplings too large when you first put them into the broth - my will they grow in size!
