Very tasty, warming dish but I have a problem with the dumplings. There is 1 tablespoon of baking powder in the recipe and while the dumplings are light, they have a distinct bitter/metallic aftertaste. Next time I will reduce the baking powder by 1/4 and see if that helps. Also the dumplings were still raw on top after 15 mins of poaching so I recommend covering with the lid after 10 mins and removing from the heat and finish for 10 minutes using residual heat. I'll also add a little wine and dijon mustard with the stock for zing.

Delicious! I made it with a leftover roast chicken from Sunday. Used a baking mix for the dumplings but included the chives. My husband said it was comfort food at it's finest!

Love this recipe!!! A few note-worthy items...I read lots of reviews before making and was concerned about it being salty. However, we like salt so I stuck to the recipe. I actually salted it slightly after serving. I did use Kosher salt and I think those that complained probably used table salt. I did omit the pearl onions and I don't like them, but put in a cup of sweet onions in with the celery and carrots before adding the flour. Didn't quite thicken enough, but I was using a pasta pan instead of dutch oven so the depth was probably the issue. I added a teaspoon of arrow root and it worked great. It was so good, we plan to make it again, but use the base as chicken pot pie!

Holy Moly! it is so good. very chickeny. I added a little chicken boulion to the dumplings instead of plain salt for a lil extra flavor but over all this is a must try. For serious

I followed the recipe ...ALMOST. I didn't have buttermilk, so I used heavy cream, and I it turned out perfectly. rich & creamy sauce, dumplings were fluffy... My family loved them! I will CERTAINLY be making this again! It tasted like my grammas!

With having a family from the south I was intimidated to make an attempt at chicken and dumplings. Couldn't believe how excellent this turned out! My husband who cliams he doesn't eat chicken and dumplings went back for seconds!

I found it to be too salty. You might want to start with 1/2 the salt.

Really good and easy to make. I added a bit of garlic salt to my broth and made my own dumplings. It was total comfort food at the best level possible. I made this during a warm summer day but will make this quite regularly during the fall & winter months. My husband and I loved it. If you want a thicker broth, do add more flour, as it comes out a bit runny as is. Otherwise PERFECT!
