I was very excited to make this strawberry strata. It looked Amazing! Easy to make, but a little bit tasteless. I would try again except add sugar or vanilla. Aslo, I would add more strawberries!!!! I made it for a dinner party and half of the people loved it and the other half thought it was to blane. Thank you for the recipe Giada.

So here's what I did, and it turned out amazing. I added a tsp of nutmeg along with the cinnamon, drizzled honey on top after everything was in the baking dish (to crisp the crust, and used one box of fresh strawberries soaked in sugar overnight. I also decided to serve it with home-made whipped cream (see Alton Brown's recipe- 2 tbsp sugar and heavy whipping cream that wasn't fully whipped. It becomes more of a bread pudding/ soaked dessert. It was soooo good. Also, sprinkle a bunch of cinnamon sugar combo on top of the desert just before you put it in the oven, just to give it a more cinnamon-like taste. Enjoy!

I have done this recipe many times. To feel less guilty I use Light itlaian bread instead of ciabata and when is ready to serve I drizzle it with condensed milk. Yummy!!!

I made this for a friend's house party and was so embarrassed how it came out. I thought I did something wrong, but after I read the reviews it made sense. It was not what I expected, very bland, too eggy. Would not try any variation of this. Sorry

This recipe is ingredient intensive but poor on taste... I would rather make it with savory ingredients... which I will for Thanksgiving.... It needed more... vanilla... nutmeg... the frozen strawberries were not that sweet for the amount of eggs and milk... and bread.... but.... put all your favorite things in this recipe.. back off on the eggs... the bread is great... leave the crust on.... and stuff your bird or bake on the side.... I think it will work out great....Kathy

After buying all the ingredients and the fun of trimming of the crust from the bread I was expecting so much more! It smelled really good while it was cooking but it was just soooo bland, it?s just not sweet enough. I ended up making a rum-butter-sugar sauce and serving the dish with ice cream and it was better. Giada?s desserts are usually so much better. I realize Europeans don?t use as much sugar as we do but this was, frankly, a waste of good ingredients.
