I agree with Carol, this is something to make occasionally for dessert that is elegant, but not difficult, and there is nothing wrong with a splurge, it is a very small serving anyway. The creamy texture with the slight coffee and orange flavor is wonderful, no after taste at all. Really finishes off a nice dinner. Another winner by Tyler!

Shaul, there are many, many healthy recipes on this site. People don't eat something like this every day, and most people can handle a splurge now and then. Unhealthful foods can be part of a generally healthful diet. If you want only healthy recipes, there are web sites like Cooking Light's that may be more to your liking.

I love most of Taylor's work however this is another indication - as his Taylor's growing belly - that some needs a wake up call. Taylor needs to change some of his recipes in favor of lower calories dishes. Working with 2 cups of cream in any dish is out of the question.

My husband and I love panna cotta. We've eaten a lot of it at various restaurants and tried many recipes ourselves. Eventually one develops their favorites in anything, and for us our favorites are a Mario Batali recipe and one by a chef at Nostrana in Portland, Oregon. So those are the standards of excellence, for us, against which we measure any new recipe. This recipe sounded intriguing for the coffee flavoring as well as the topping of cocoa whipped cream. We liked the cocoa whipped cream on its own and will use it again for other thiings. But it seems overkill on panna cotta, although a clever visual presentaiton here appearing as "foam" on a coffee drink. Also, a key for panna cotta is the texture and this recipe misses the mark for us, having too much gelatin for only a cup and a half of cream. The too firm texture of this misses the mark, for our palates, of that unctuous texture that is the hallmark of great panna cotta. Nothing wrong with the recipe, it's just an "average" for our palates.

the orange was a little strong (maybe I just had a really big orange, and the fresh ground espresso beans left a really weird aftertaste. giada's panna cotta with espresso powder tasted better.

Wow, toss out any concerns over cholesterol and just go for it (once in a while! I had some non coffee addicts so instead I crumbled up some chocolate cookies into the serving cups just before putting them in the fridge to chill. The dessert was very good, subltely orange and amazingly light tasting. I took quite a bit longer than an hour to set up, so I was glad I made it well in advance. Everyone loved it though!!

Even though the recipe uses heavy cream, the desert is light and exceptional. Heat the cream till steaming, put the lid on and steep 8 min, then quickly wisk in the gelatin. I did not have success turning the heat on with the gelatin, just wisk till disolved, and stain into cups. Halved the cream and doubled the cocoa in the topping. This is restaurant quality!
