I wonder if this could just be baked in the oven in the soy mixture minus the liquid smoke. instead of grilled?

I thought this recipe was very boring. Maybe I had the wrong idea before I made it- I thought this was going to be similar to an asian styled teriyaki chicken... it tasted like chicken you'd throw on the grill-nothing special! :( I actually marinaded my chicken for about 30 minutes instead of just dipping them into the mix as she suggested (don't see how you would have had ANY flavor from a brief meet. After it was grilled, none of the sesame seeds would stick...that was kind of pointless. Also, I didn't use cellophane- I used jasmine rice. I love jasmine rice, but again, no flavor in using the cilantro or sesame oil....
I was disappointed and surprised by some of the more positive results from others. Not for me!

I am not a fan of cellophane noodles so I substituted Ramen Noodles. You can either drain off most of the liquid and add the included oriental seasoning packet or boil off the reserved marinade and toss the noodles in that.
I did not use the liquid smoke.
I had cut the chicken into chunks and let sit in the marinade for close to an hour. Then stir fried and finished with sesame seeds. Put on top of Ramen Noodles and garnished with chopped green onions and slivered almonds.
Tasty!

My husband and I had this for dinner last night. We talked about how great the sauce tasted. We are going to try it on salmon as well as beef. We didn't make the noodles. The snap peas were okay, I added some vegetable supreme seasoning to them after they were cooked.

my family loved this except I did not use as much liquid smoke I used about 4 drops and made a seperate batch of the sauce and cooked it on simmer/low for about 10 min and then allowed the cooked chicken to sit in the cooked sauce and simmerd another 5 mins and omitted the seeds the family loved it and we did not even try the noodles because of the other reviews

My 8-yr old was watching the show, saw the recipe and couldn't wait to make it. We had it for dinner the same night! We were able to work together and make a tasty meal - Quick & Easy. We weren't thrilled with the cellophane noodles, however, and when we make it again -- which we will! -- we'll use rice instead. The whole family loved it.

Nice recipe. I didn't have the liquid smoke either, and the recipe turned out great. I had rice instead of cellophane noodles, and broccoli instead of snow peas. Tasty.

I read the other reviews and saw a lot of complaints about saltiness and/or the liquid smoke. I used regular soy sauce and omitted the liquid smoke (the second salt altogether. I also marinated it for 45 mins. It wasnt salty at all and since there was no liquid smoke, nothing was overpowering the other flavors. It tasted great! As far as the rest, I dont like cellophane noodles, so I just went for ramen with butter and soy sauce, and snow peas. It was a quick, easy (and good meal I will make over and over.

Dinner was ready in less than 30 minutes, start to finish. Instead of the noodles I prepared Orange-scented Jasmine Rice (by Rach and steemed Edemamme. It made for a great, dinner. I don't recommend cooking it over med-high heat as recommended, though, as the sauce burns on the chicken. Lower the heat and extend cooking time, turning frequently. I used regular soy-sauce, too, and compensated by adding a tad more honey and molasses. Great meal and will make again.

Loved the chicken on its own, side dishes were too plain.
