I was never really into chicken and dumpling. My grandmother had an amazing recipe but unfortunately she passed away before we could get it. My fiance kept giving hits to chicken and dumplings and SO glad I stumbled upon this recipe...I know there are mixed reviews on the dumplings but for me after cooking them for about 15 more minutes then recommended it was great my son and I just wanted to eat them all by themselves but everything else was great. Like someone else I used a whole roaster chicken and it was very tasty and tender. Thanks for the great recommendation!!

OH MY GOODNESS, this was so rich & DELICIOUS!! I usually bug my sister or BFF to make this for me. This recipe came out better than both of theirs!! My sister even LOVED IT, my picky eater son, devoured it. I went in a lil bit heavy on the herbs just for some added flavor, doubled the celery & carrots. Next time I'll make a batch & 1/2 of the dumplings. Definitely a favorite of mines.

Outstanding! Continues to be a favorite at our house, my husband loves it. I have made it a few times now & it never disappoints. I added some fresh herbs to the dumplings (dill & parsley. Exceptional.

Everything can't be a 5 out of 5, so I did 4 stars, but this is a high 4 stars. I love the Neeley's and their recipes. I particularly like this recipe. I also made a few changes as I always do with all recipes, tailor it to my liking, but not to say this recipe is great on it's own. I added more celery and carrot than suggested. I love a lot of veggies in my soup so I up'd it to 6 carrots and 6 celery ribs. I also put a little extra garlic in with the cream and butter to infuse more flavor into the dumplings. I would also like to comment on the dumplings being "not so good" or "dense", I disagree and perhaps it's the way you are preparing them. I find it is easy to want to make the dumplings large because it is faster, but resist the urge and stick to quarter (or slightly smaller size dumplings. More of the broth will get obsorbed. Never take the lazy route or else you will end up with food that's "not so good'. I also added celery salt and some more dried italian herbs to the recipe.

Easy and the dumplings were magnificant... I used a bit of extra salt and pepper when making the dumplings and they were delicious!! My two growing teenage boys are devouring it.
Thanks Neelys

If my 9 year old son loved it then you know it's good!! He doesn't like much but this tasted amazing! I used 2.5 lbs of chicken breasts simmered on high for 4 hours in 6 cups of broth in a crock pot instead of a whole chicken. Threw in a little celery salt, too. Dumplings were a little dense but still very good. I think next time I'll add a little baking powder and see if it lightens them up a bit. Definitly making this again!!

The Best!! The method was easy, followed recipe, but didn't have fresh thyme so subed dried. Also, after reading reviews, didn't want to take a chance on dumplings so used tried & true Bisquick! Will try the dumplings next time, because this is my favorite, by far!
