This was great. I modified it from a slow cooker recipe to a regular soup recipe for the stove. I browned the chorizo,(whole, not chopped then added the onion, garlic, celery and carrot, and sauteed on low heat for 5-10 mins. until tender. Then I added homemade chicken broth, split peas and the other ingredients and simmered for about 2 hours. I removed the sausage, cut it into slices, and returned it to the pot. It came out great, spicy but not too spicy. The soup was still on the stove when I went out to pick my daughter up. When I came back, my husband had eaten almost half the pot!

I made this soup in my slow cooker as the recipe directed. After 12 hours the split peas had not cooked. After 24 hours the split peas STILL had not cooked. Poured everything into a Dutch oven and it was done within the hour. Did anyone test this recipe in the slow cooker? My recollection is that Robin did it on the stovetop on the show. Tasted great (I used andouille once is was done.

Quick to make, hearty and the chorizo adds that zip I need on grey winter days! I didn't soak the dry split peas first (wasn't sure if I had to so they had a bit more texture than I am used to. Then again they didn't soften more after a couple days in the fridge, so I think this is how they were supposed to be. I took a hand blender to it to give it a more homogenous consistency. Overall, very good... I'd make it again!

I had some leftover ham and followed this recipe. I used cooking onions instead and the only extra I added was two sprigs of thyme. Super easy to make and lots of flavour. Highly recommended.

I enjoy both Chorizo and Split Pea soup and was happy to find a recipe that was so simple - but the end results were not very enjoyable. The peas did not cook down enough to be smooth; too much broth made the soup watery; and I did not like the greesy texture from the Chorizo. Maybe if I tried it again I would soak the peas overnight before hand to increase tenderness; cook the chorizo in advance and drain the majority of the greese out; and use at least 16oz less of the called for broth.

We used vegetarian chorizo substitute, and lentils instead, and it's excellent... This is a very simple soup, quite nourishing and delicious.

I love pea soup and Chirizo so I thought this would be great. It was awful. Greasey, not enough flavor and a bad texture. My husband who will usaully eat almost anything wouldn't finish his first helping. It ended up as dog food gravy.

my first time having split pea anything, and I thought it came out pretty tasty. On the spicy side, but easy prep.

I didn't know that chorizo is spicy. I picked a package that didn't say "spicy" on it and it still made the soup too hot. Also the broth didn't have much flavor. Also peas had too much texture, I am use to a soup that is more smooth. I wouldn't cook this recipe again.
