Unlike other reviewers, I thought this was really great! It was in between a custard and bread pudding. Not too sweet at all. I used frozen raspberries for mine, otherwise did everything the same as original recipe. I baked it a little longer- about 5 more minutes. I ate this when warm and cold- both tasted great! I will definitely be making this again!

I originally intended this to be for dessert but something came up and I didn't have a chance to bake it as planned. As it was in the frig, I baked it for breakfast. My husband really liked it especially after adding a little maple syrup. He said it tasted like french toast with berries! I liked it just as it was. Not too eggy with great flavor.
Thanks for this super easy recipe!

I hate to leave a not so great entry on this site because I usually love Giada's recipes...but this one, not that good. I agree with the others that it was eggy, and not very flavorful. I think it has possibilities though if someone "tweaks" it though.

Made this for my family using Italian Bread - didn't find it too eggy...I didn't have a bag of frozen mixed fruit so I used a combo of frozen rasperries and blackraspberries. I refrigerated for about 4 hours before baking, served with a dollop of whipped cream and my family really liked it.

I make egg strata's for brunch all the time, but for a desert I found this too eggy and also too sweet, rather than creamy. It didn't hold together like a bread pudding. I even tried extending the bake time, but that didn't help. I'm not sure I would try this again.

Pretty good...but very egg-heavy. It tasted more like a sweet breakfast casserole than a dessert (I think that she said it was similar to a bread pudding on the show. Anyway, it's very easy to make and has a great flavor.

Maybe some sweetned whipped cream on top; but delightfully good
