This recipe was extremely simple and easy to make; it had nice texture, it was light and moist however, it was missing flavor. I made it exactly as the recipe except accidentally, I added more berries than required. The kind of bread used will affect its sweetness. I used a country bread and it was okay - not too sweet. It's so simple to make that i will try it again. I will use a different bread and definitively add grated orange or lemon, some vanilla, cinnamon to give it more flavor.

Giada the was a great and tasty. It was also quick and easy to prepare. I did not add the orange juice and I didn't even miss it.

    Thanks!

    Oh, my god!

I just can't get enough of that reciepe! I try a new version every week... Last week I did it with cranberries and a small can of mandarin oranges. I aded one more table spoon of sugar because of the cranberries. Turned out great!!!

Sunday night, I did the original reciepe but with croissants pieces that I dried in the oven instead of bread... everybody was speachless around the table!

be adventurous! you won't be dissapointed...

    Thank you Giada!!!

After reading the other reviews I decided to tweak it some. I added five eggs instead of four, used 3/4 of a loaf of fresh challah, instead of the four slices of stale bread. Also I didn't let it sit for 2-12 hours, I folded it all together and baked it for an hour. It was awesome! I disagree that it's not sweet enough, if I am not mistaken this is supposed to be a breakfast dish no? I thought the sweetness was perfect. I served it with slab bacon and coffee and my family loved it! Grazie Giada!

This was a soggy, bland mess. I added nutmeg and cinnamon to try to improve the flavor but it was still tasteless. It needed more sugar too, as it was not very sweet. This recipe should be re-worked.

This strata is excellent! Not too sweet nor too rich, just a great dessert. Try it for breakfast.

I doubled the recipe and used a whole loaf of french bread less the 2 ends. I couldn't wait for the berries to thaw completely so rinsed good with water. Wonderful with real maple syrup.
