Amazing Shake! The only thing I would change is the sugar. My strawberries were very sweet since they are in season here in California. I would not add the sugar if you have very sweet strawberries. Otherwise this was great!

I made this for my hubby because he's always buying strawberry milkshakes. The texture is not super thick like a shake from say McDonald's or In N Out. I took the advice of another review and only used 1/4 cup milk. After blending, I tasted it and thought that it tasted more like a smoothie than a shake. So I added the remaining 1/4 cup milk and that made a BIG difference, tasting more like a shake. Couldn't get fresh strawberries, so I bought frozen strawberries, and they were fine. Because they were somewhat colder than fresh strawberries, that may have changed the texture a little. However, I will definitely be making this again. It was awesome, and my husband reminded me that it was way better than McD's or In N Out simply because it was homemade.

I followed the recipe to the letter and this is fantastic. Against my better judgement, I used lowfat vanilla ice cream, and it was still great!

Macerating the strawberries really made blending easy. This was soooo good!

This strawberry milkshake was very good. The strawberries were the star and I think that the person who said it tasted to odd because of the vanilla, they probably added way too much of it. I thought the amount of vanilla was just fine. I used frozen strawberries and a little bit more milk. It is nice to have some vanilla ice cream and frozen fruit on hand to make milkshakes like this.

I'm a fan of strawberry milkshakes since I was a kid. Never tried macerating fruit for milkshakes before. I was actually doing the milkshake just for myself and cut the recipe in half. I broke my blender glass and went ahead my magic bullet, using the blender container attachment. I took 8 medium sized strawberries and put 1 heaping tablespoon of sugar with a little sliver more and 1 teaspoon of Madagascar vanilla. I let it sit for 20 minutes as instructed. Instead of the 4 scoops you'd get from a pint of ice cream, I used 2 and pour 1/4 cup of milk instead of 1/2. It came out great. I did have the froth. When following recipes like these, and you're looking for a thicker texture to your milkshake follow the quantity required for the liquid but how half of what you asked to pour. if you think its too think at that point, pour in the rest of the measure to thin it out. Sometimes a slip of the hand pouring without measuring will make the final product too runny. I enjoyed it. will definitely using the macerating technique.
