Really good but really potent. The lime-sugar-salt rim mixture is a nice touch. I've tried different orange flavored liquors & it's definitely best with Grand Marnier (by a long shot.

This is a great authentic margarita. Exactly what I was looking for and simple to make. I skipped the lime-sugar-salt mix and just rimmed the glass with kosher salt.

Pretty good for a basic margarita recipe, and easy to make. I used agave nectar instead of simple syrup to make it even easier. I think next time I'd add a little more lime juice and a little less agave nectar - a tad on the sweet side for me.

Delicious! My husband declared it the best margarita he's ever had. I made my own sour mix which makes a huge difference in any drink calling for sour mix, but otherwise followed the recipe exactly.

So fresh and the perfect balance of sweet and sour. We have a key lime tree in our yard and used fresh key lime juice. Also, Bobby Flay had recommended El Tesoro brand in his Smoky Margarita recipe so we splurged on using that. It did not taste too strong, but it definitely just the right kick. Made these a few times now and is a go-to from now on.

I think this mix is a little too basic. There are many, many "mixology" variables and this one is a good starting point, but it needs something to make it special. And this is best left to experience. For those of you starting out with this recipe, try different tequilas (for example, try Sammy Hagar's Espolon, lower price, but great flavor. Try using agave nectar as a sweetener (usually available at a natural foods grocery or even some main-stream grocery's. It adds flavor! Try 'on the rocks' vs. creamed. Use a blender to cream the 'mix' with ice to give a smoothie-like consistency. Try adding different orange liquor brands, or skipping it all together. Basically, don't be disheartened with this recipe. Just start somewhere and listen to your pallet. It will guide you. Learn the basics and adjust then until you find 'paradiso'. Best of luck!

Let me tell you I'm not a lightweight and like my drinks strong but this was WAY too much tequila. I thought maybe I made it wrong but I couldn't stomach the tequila taste. I watered it down with some triple sec and orange juice, then it was palatable. Not for me :(

Now that we're living in the Southwest I thought it appropriate that I find an authentic Margarita recipe. This is it! Delicious and worth the extra effort on all fronts. I call them my 3-2-1 Margaritas because of the ingredients. Muy bueno!

Terrific and reliable recipe. In addition...whoever selected the thin glasses shown in the photo...another success. The thin glasses show in the photo are also terrific! Thanks! Annie , Fremont , CA

I am a weakling when it comes to liquor, so I was concerned initially that this cocktail would taste too strongly of alcohol for me. My concerns went out the window when I tasted it. I used Cazadores blanco and (a bit more than the recommended amount of Cointreau. The taste of the tequila was well balanced by the tartness and sweetness of the margarita, but I did not notice any benefit to including lime zest in the rim coating. It was delicious, and I can see these causing trouble for me at parties.
