I like the idea of using smoked Gouda instead of the typical cheddar etc. It gave it a nice smokey flavor. I did not add anything to this dish other than the recipe ingredients (minus cayenne, but you could definately use this as a base and turn it into a casserole. I did make a small modification, I used a bread crumb topping. Italian breadcrumbs mixed with melted butter and sprinkled over the top. Next time, I will probably half the recipe. 1 lb of macaroni is an entire box. My 9x13 baking dish was filled to the rim. We'll be eating leftovers for the next 3 days (lunch & dinner!and we're a a family of four! Overall, pretty good.

Didn't have cayenne so used a few shakes of chili powder and turned out FABULOUS! Next time we'll add chunks of ham!

This recipe is so good! It's like mac-n-cheese for grown-ups. I have made it several times, most recently last night for my husband's birthday. It's always a hit. The only change I make is I use 1% milk instead of whole because that's what we drink in our house and it's still awesome.

Fantastic recipe. Extremely easy to make, and the ingredients were super-market friendly. I was a bit worried about the cauliflower, but it was a perfect addition. I added a bit of prosciutto for some extra flavor...yum!

My DH wanted me to give the recipe three and a half stars, I think four. Nice change from regular mac and cheese but not outstanding for five stars. I would make again though.

    Here were my changes:

    - more milk and lowfat - 3 1/2 cups 1% milk
    - used mixture of part skim mozzarella and medium cheddar

    Delicious beyond!
    Thank you!

Does anyone know what she used for the topping on the TV show? I only caught the end and she was chopping up pickles and parsley (I think and some other things..... I'd love to know to be able to try it!
