This was an amazing cake ... I didn't watch the show, but I was searching for a German Chocolate cake to make for my friends surprise 50th birthday party ... I always check the food network site first ... I ignored the 3 star rating and I'm glad I did. Yes it was time consuming (probably because I doubled the batch twice to make a huge cake, but compared to the box cake mix ... I'd make it again in a heartbeat. The cake went over extremely well and I just used a homemade chocolate buttercream on the sides.

For those that complained about the temp and time not being listed ... follow the temps that are listed on your cake pan inserts ... it's a no brainer ... Don't reduce the rating if you haven't tried the recipe or are just mad because they didn't give info like cooking temp/time or the secret recipe. I'm sure that secret recipe is what gives her business .... Would you want to give a recipe and risk losing business because everyone else could now make it at home ... Be Real!

I saw this recipe on tv and I told my husband that's what I want for my birthday.

I love it, this recipy was outstanding, Bobby Flay is the best, I love him

But my hubby really did a great job, everybody was really happy eating the amazing cake. Took him more time than other cakes, but it was worthy. Thanks to my hubby and of course to Bobby Flay to put this kind of recipes on the show.

This came out excellent. The cake was super moist and the filling was outstanding. I made a semi-sweet ganache for the frosting. My husband said it was the best German chocolate cake he's tasted. It was a lot of work, but the end result was worth it. I will definitely make this again.

This receipe takes too long and the results are not worth the time. The temperature is not included nor is the chocolate frosting receipe. The coconut pecan frosting is VERY GOOD just don't put it on this cake. Although the receipe does not say whether or not the pecans are chopped or how long to toast them.

Wow! Some of you people are just nasty! Okay, so Bobby's recipe is not traditional. So what? It looked fabulous, and I was very disappointed that it is not on this website. I will look on Bobby's website, which several people were kind enough to suggest and someone even posted the address to. I will look there for the recipe and make that one. It looked better to me.

This recipe is incomplete. There is no baking temperature for the cakes, there is also no mention of the chocolate chips as shown on the show, and there is no ?family secret chocolate icing? or at least a substitute recipe for a similar icing. I looked forward to trying this recipe but after reading it I won?t waste the time, ingredients and effort on a poorly written recipe. Bobby rescue us and post your winning recipe!

Bobby's cake looked SO wonderful that is the one everyone wants to make!
Anyone can get the other recipe and make up a chocolat frosting for the side. To give her incomplete recipe is crazy! Although I understand her wanting to keep it secret. We all want Bobby's recipe! Come on Food Network!

I personally liked the touch of coffee and strong chocolate. I am sure this recipe is also really good.

This cake was wonderful. I frosted with filling and it was an ultimate crowd please. However they never listed a temp so I baked it at 350 for 25 min. I highly recommend.
