I did not use the angel food cake. Instead, I used banana nut muffins and a lemon pound cake. I did not add the juice from the fruit, it is too gooshy mushy. I also used orange marmelade. I heated it up, liquifyed it, and then poured it onto the layers. I was thinking, it may be too many flavors, but I was shocked. It was unbelievable. I did not have any, I am a diabetic and my counts were off that day. But all 25 guests were scraping the plates.

I haven't made this yet, but I will tomorrow for Father's Day, but since
everyone had a problem finding the elderflower syrup, I'm going to use an
elderflower liquor (St.Germain liquor it's awesome & I've used it in many
things, right now I have fresh pineapple chunks marinating in the liquor
since I had to rate this before posting I'm going on the fact that I'll be using the St.Germain liquor & I really think it will be great

This dessert was delicious!! I made it with pound cake and I also used Bosenberry sauce although I couldn't taste it. I made it the night before, to let all the juice so into the pound cake. Everyone was ooooing and aaahhhing when it was brought out. So yummy.

I also couldn't find the Elderflower syrup so, like another reader suggested, I used Bosenberry syrup instead and it worked out perfectly. This recipe saves pretty well also, and it almost tastes better the day after because all of the flavors have had time to marry. Just a great overall recipe :

I made this recipe for a party on July 3rd it was gone in ten minutes!! I could not find elderflower syrup so I ended up using organic hazelnut syrup and it tasted out of this world. I also added red rasberries in addition to the strawberries & blackberries. Everyone since has asked me for the recipe including my finiky brother-in-law!

I couldn't find the elderflower syrup anywhere at 2 grocery stores by me, but I was able to get the lychee syrum at an Asian mart (very common to find there and bought a couple cans and used the lychee in fruit salad. It turned out very nicely, although I would be a little less heavy handed with putting the juices from the strawberries on the angel food cake because it gets it too soggy. Otherwise, people loved it. I would also try adding some vanilla in the whipped topping to add to the flavor.

This is a great, easy recipe and was a big hit with our English dinner guests. I was unable to find elderberry or lychee syrup. I used 2/3 cup apricot nector instead and it worked beautifully.

The instructions for the Strawberry Blackberry Trifle were very vague. Hard to follow.
