I need another way to serve avocados since I am trying to eat them at least 3 times a week. Thought I would try this since I had some red grapefruit on hand. I LOVED it. My husband, who has always hated grapefruit, LOVED it. One of my sons loved it. The other son, not so much, but then again he doesn't like avacado or grapefruit so his opinion doesn't count. LOL Easy, different, yummy, and good for you. What more can you ask for? Thanks Ina.

Excellent recipe and gets rave reviews every time.

When I'm in a rush........ I use jarred grapefruit segments from the grocers and substitute Catalina Salad Dressing drizzled over the fruit.

Yum-Yummy! This was a really light and refreshing. Perfect for a hot summer day. Followed the recipe exactly, My two minor changes is 1 to cut the avocado thinner then just four slices per half, so I can effectively alternate avocado and grapefruit and 2 to potentially use just a pinch less salt. It wasn't overly salty, but the nature of kosher salt not dissolving fast, I did have some bites that seemed saltier then others. But overall, great easy salad from Ina!

I'm so very tired of reading reviews of recipe's that say things like " I changed this and added that, and left out this because my husband doesn't like it" Then the reviewer finishes up with a quick "It just wasn't a hit for either of us". Jesus people, make the recipe as written before reviewing it. I'm all for being creative, but we'd like a review of Ina's recipe, not your uneducated, manipulated, half assed attempt at pretending to be a Chef. If you want to review your own recipe, then post it, as yours first.
Ina, this one is great, but I have to say, I added. . . .NOTHING, and I left out. . . .NOTHING, and I changed. . . .NOTHING! Sorry for following your recipe to a "T". Next time I make it, I'll probably. . . .do the same thing!

I love this salad, served it on top of organic romaine lettuce. I added a small amount of Braggs Organic raw applecider vinegar and wow! Light, delicious and if you are looking for healthy, this is it! If you are looking for foods that have low glycemic impact, this is a nice change from the normal salad. Would be a wonderful salad to serve @ a dinner party because it is the unexpected. Thanks Ina!

I love all the elements but the combo seemed to be missing something. Dill? Thinly sliced shallots? I don't know but the WOW was not there. I'll keep working on it because the idea is fabulous. Definately not too salty. Bit I've learned with Ina's recipes, when she says kosher salt, she means exactly that. Not sea salt, not table salt.

I love avocados, and now I love grapefruit too. It's amazing how the sweetness of the grapefruit really comes through with this recipe, perfectly cutting and balancing out the saltiness of the vinaigrette. It really is very delicious. Thank you, Ina! :

I've been making (my modified version of this recipe for a couple of years now and it's phenomenal. I would never have thought about combining the two if it weren't for Ina.

    My modifications:
    - use 1:1 ratio of grapefruit to avocado
    - i peel the avocado by hand rather than slice the wedges which makes enough grapefruit juice to omit the lemon juice from the vinaigrette.
    - omit salt and pepper. normally i *love* pepper but i don't like to see the specs in this dish and the mustard is plenty salty for me already.
