I made these yesterday and was not impressed. I followed the recipe for the first batch and encountered the same problems as others; batter too thick, improper cooking; not a great flavor.

In my second batch I cut the ricotta in half and increased the butter milk by 1/2 cup. I also cut the number of eggs by 1. I also used orange instead of lemon and I preferred this. (Orange is just a matter of personal taste.

On the second batch my family ate them but I doubt I will be making them again. I'll stick to my standard buttermilk pancake recipe with a bit of orange zest.

I usually have a great time with Tyler's recipes. The batter took way too long to make, the apples looked gross when I did exactly what Tyler did, and the pancakes would NOT cook through no matter what heat setting I used. Very mushy and gross, I will be throwing out this recipe.

Wish I had used Golden delish apples instead of Granny Smith (just what I had on hand! Other than that, Bomb breakfast! The pancakes even tasted good the next day the old fashion way with butter and real maple syrup. :

I read some reviews that stated that the batter was too thick, but the full recipe has eggs and buttermilk and the recipe cards leave these ingredients out. I have written to the Food Network about this before, because every time I print out the recipe cards I have to check the ingredients with the full recipe and there are always mistakes. Check the ingredient list because it would make a difference in the texture of this recipe. This is also true for all other food shows...just check the ingredients closely.

The batter was thick, but I added some milk. One important thing I've noticed with Tyler's recipes that I've tried is that the show is really different than the website recipe. It is better to follow the instructions from the show. The pancakes came out, fluffy, moist and delicious.

I really enjoy watching Tyler and was excited to try this recipe - it looked great on TV! Like many of the other reviewers, my pancakes never cooked through and my kids (who typically are not picky really disliked them - as did my husband and I. The taste is odd, in a sweet and savory way. The lemon is nice, but the mushiness/raw texture was just unacceptable.

My wife and I agree that these are the best pancakes we have ever had. They literally melt in your mouth. The apple combo was an exellent touch. We will never go back to box.

If your not a fan of the show or even if you are, one important thing I've noticed with all of Tyler's recipes that I've tried is that the show is really different than the website recipe. I used the show measurements, not the recipes, and the batter was a little thick. The flavor is lemon and tastes a lot like a lemon cake. I peppered the prosciutto but I didn't salt it - good thing because it was very very salty anyway but delicious.
