I loved the bright flavors in this sauce. It certainly livened up my usual salmon. My kids however, are not big fans of grapefruit, so I only used one grapefruit. It worked perfect for us.

I am a huge fan of salmon, but this recipe didn't have much flavor. I didn't even finish my plate, it was that bland. My fiance also likes salmon and is a fan of plain dishes, and he thought this was okay (he rated it higher than I did. It looks pretty, but I wouldn't make it again. There are too many other healthy salmon recipes that actually taste good!

I saw Ellie making this on TV and thought it sounded wonderful. Hubby isn't a fan of grapefruit so I knew it would be a challenge. There was an extra fillet left and hubby and my daughter fought over who got it.

I served it as Ellie prepared it on the TV except I didn't salt the sauce and put 2 TBSP crumbled Feta over the spinach. I also wilted the spinachin a fry pan with a small amount of butter and some canola oil. The feta was not salty tasting at all and it wass very filling. Hubby wants to know when I am making it again!!!

    Thanks Ellie!!

This was an increadible feast for the palate! I had no idea how it would taste considering the unusal ingredients - but I am so glad I tried this. It was restaurant quality. My dinner guests LOVED the meal and this recipe is getting ranked in the top ten of all time. Needless to say, I will certainly make this again.

Thanks so much to the one reviewer who wrote she used canned grapefruit slices instead of using a fresh grapefruit. While I am a fan of fresh ingredients, I found in the produce section - and used in the recipe - fresh Ruby grapefruit slices (in their own juice. What a time saver!

I served this dish with vegetable (carrots and fresh pea pods and seafood (scallops and shrimp risotto, asparagus steamed in olive oil and sea salt and a bottle of Pinot Gris. Wow. A wonderful combination and compliment of flavors.

I loved this recipe! It was fairly easy to make and tasted great. I was skeptical of the basil with the grapefruit but it was wonderful! I doubled the sauce recipe and served it with brown rice and the spinach, walnut and apple salad from Eliie also. WONDERFUL!

I'm not a huge fan of grapefruit, but this recipe sounded intresting so I decided to give it a try anyway. Boy am I glad I did! It was so good. The grapefruit flavor was there, but was subtle and not bitter like grapefruit usually is. This may depend on the grapefruit you get though. I grabbed a bag of Ruby grapefruits at the grocery store, but when I cut into them they were white. I don't know if they were under ripe, or the bag was mislabeled. Either way they worked well. The only changes I made to the recipe were that I brushed the salmon with olive oil and juiced half a lemon over it before roasting in the oven. I also omitted the grapefruit pieces. My family loved it and said it is one of the best things I've made so far! My mom said it was "like something you'd get in a restaurant" and my dad liked the sauce so much he made me save what was left over so he could dip bread in it later for a snack.

I had guests over and made this dish for them after reading the previous reviews. It was amazing! The smell while reducing the shallot sauce was excellent. And the total silence while everyone was enjoying was suberb. I will make this again and again. And for many more people! I put the salmon and sauce over fresh baby spinach. The juice made for an excellent dressing. And with a glass of Pinot Grigio, Barefoot in this case, it is perfection! Thanks!

This was so simple and delicious but the flavor was very delicate. Next time I would double the sauce recipe and soak the salmon in grapefruit juice and lemon juice to bump up the flavor.

We really enjoyed this. The flavors melded nicely. I liked the little bite from the cayenne pepper. It was easy to prepare.
