I only made the sponge cake portion to be served with strawberries -- wasn't impressed. Putting the batter in to a jelly roll pan made it very thin, it smelled wonderful then tasted like a fortune cookie. Using the tea wasn't addressed anywhere either, I think it was to brush on the sponge cake after cooking but I wasn't sure.
    Won't be making it again.

Although this sounds very good.......... I have to point out that a rectangle is not a square in any way.

I liked the dessert with the exception of the tea soaked spong cake. I did half without soaking. The unsoaked half was better, but the texture was wrong with the spong cake vs a shortcake.
