This is without a doubt the best tasting gravy receipe I have ever used. I have used it with standing rib roasts and fillet steaks and roasts. I usually make substitutions as I see fit when using a receipe.... not this one ! It is perfect as written. My sister-in-law Freida, who is a wonderful cook, uses it also and that is indeed high praise.

Oh wow this was absolutely delicious! And super super easy. The sauce was to die for! I only did some minor changes, instead of using montreal steak seasoning, I simply salt and peppered my steak. And I did not use an entire 1/4 cup of cognac, instead I used half of it. But the rest, I followed the recipe in exact. I love Sandra because she finds ways to make classics that are usually time consuming, fast and easy to make and still delicious! It makes things so much easier for full time workers and mothers like me! Thanks Sandra!

I knew her recipes are not so good but I thought I would try again. It was horrible it didn't taste like steak diane. Then I found one from Paula Deen it was sooooooooooo good. Thanks Paula Sandra you should copy from Paula.

Amazing! My husband and I love a good steak and this was incredible. He actually rated it in his top 5. This was easy to make and the sauce was perfect. It will become a family favorite.
Thanks Sandra for finding ways for a working mom to put flavorful meals on the table.

I have made this dish for just my husband and me and also for guests at least 4 times now. It turns out perfectly everytime. I would say to make sure the steaks you buy should be UNSEASONED & to use the reduced sodium Steak seasoning- it really cuts down on the salt and lets the flavor of the meat and sauce stand out. Cannot say enough good things about this dish. It's also VERY QUICK to make.

I made this recipe and loved it all! I did not find it difficult to make as some the reviews said. Someone gave it a negative review but they substituted almost all of the recipe so what do they expect?

It was very good and I will do it again and perhaps try a little dijon mustard.

Most people don't consider Sandra Lee a real cook or chef because she uses short cuts in her cooking/recipes. That's why each time you read the reviews of her recipes people are always dogging her out. Besides, isn't that the whole idea of the show (it's called SEMI homemade Personally I like her a lot because her recipes are good for people who are pressed for time and she has a lot of neat ideas as to how to entertain your guests when you're hosting a party. Keep up the good work Sandra :

This was the second time I was making this and just like the first time, easy to follow and prepare. I don't understand all the negative comments but the sauce was excellent and the meat was so tender. What you need to watch for is the cooking time for the meat. Depending on the thickness of the filet and how well you want your meat done, the cooking may vary. At the end, I put the sauce pan in the oven at 300 to cook through and keep warm for another 10-15 minutes. (cover the handle with foil so it won't burn. This dish goes great with a side of garlic mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus (in the oven with olive oil, salt and pepper.

I was thinking about making this Steak Diane & maybe it's just me, but when I enlarged the picture of the meat, it totally looks dried & burned, yuck!! It that's what's going to happen if I follow the recipe, then forget it!!
Again, this woman never seems to get more than a 3 star rating for ANY of her recipes; I've gone through SEVERAL of her recipes her on F.N & found maybe only a handful that have a 4 or 5 star rating. Funny thing is, I've watched several of her money saving meals episodes & I'm wondering why some of her food turns out so well when she makes it live on her show but 99% of the time, people who leave reviews have problems... hmmm....
