The first time I made this I didn't realize that I was supposed to measure out 4 cups of COOKED noodles, so I had twice as many noodles as I needed! It was still good, but I made it again tonight with the right amount of noodles and only two eggs instead of three and it was delicious! I will be making this again! :

Creamy and delicious. The key is to make sure your pasta is hot when you add all the ingredients. You can not make the pasta in advance and try to heat it up...It just doesn't work. It's macaroni and CHEESE so use the most flavorful cheese. I only use white extra sharp cheddar. It has become a recipe that everyone asks me to make for them. Don't overbake it. This recipe is easy. You can make all the other recipes with many cheese's but this is simple and if you use a great cheese, you can't go wrong

Made this dish for my fam and loved it! I did add some different cheese's. I added valvetta, sharp cheddar, and monterey jack cheese. And crumbled cheese its on top for the crunch.... I also only used 2 eggs instead of 3. Will make it again... Thanks Paula Deen!!

For variations I add diced onion, garlic powder & use other cheeses for different flavor although it is delicious just the way paula makes it! DON'T WORRY ABOUT HAVING LEFT OVERS EVEN WITH A DOUBLE BATCH!

I took it to a potluck at work and it was the only dish practically licked clean and every one was talking about it for days afterward. Now every time a potluck comes up everyone tells me I need to make this. I used only 1 egg for the whole batch and added garlic.

I wanted to like this recipe, I really did. I wanted to wow my in laws but it fell very short. I was way to eggy and I even cut back on the eggs like some reviews said. It was not very cheesy and I put a fair amount more as some had suggested. I threw in some extra spices and still nothing. I will be looking for another Mac and Cheese recipe. Sorry Paula :(

I was tired of having boxed mac and cheese, so I wanted to make some from scratch. I had high hopes for this recipe, but the outcome was very bland. I cut the recipe in half (since there is only 3 of us in my family but I added the same amount of cheese. I don't know if it was because I'm so used to fake mac and cheese or not, but I wasn't really happy with this at all. It wasn't bad per se, but it wasn't something my family and I really enjoyed.

I can't believe some of the stuff I am reading on here; if you had to "throw this out" then you're doing something very, very wrong. I've made this stuff probably 20 times, and it's always been a huge hit. You have to follow the directions, though: it's 4 cups of COOKED macaroni, not 4 cups dry. I suspect a lot of people are using way too much pasta, and that's why it's turning out dry.

I like to experiment, and every time I cook it I tweak it a little . I like to use some cheddar jack cheese, or some mozzarella, to shake it up a bit. Also, I like doing 3/4 cups of sour cream and only 2 eggs. For something really fun, brown some panko in a skillet with some butter, salt, and pepper and throw it on top of the macaroni before baking. It adds a wonderful crunch. There are literally infinite ways you can play around with this and have it turn out great. This is probably one of my top-ten favourite recipes ever.

this mac and cheese recipe is so good. i use it all the time! I have taken it to family and work events and it always gets rave reviews. the hubby has even learned how to make it! I only make 2 changes. the first is to add a little onion powder to the custard. the second is to coat the top in a generous amount of cheese plus maybe some panko bread crumbs. a hit everytime!

This turned out great. It wasn't greasy of lacking cheese like some baked macaroni. I added some garlic powder, paprika, & a can of green chillis. I also used a little more sour cream (3/4 c and put extra grated cheese & homemade wheat bread crumbs on top. I could definately taste the green chillis, but my husband couldn't tell & just said it tasted awesome. I also left out the salt, but ate it with Kielbasa which is very salty. Definately a keeper. The best macaroni & cheese I have ever made.
