Loved it!! Left out the cayenne pepper and used half and half instead of heavy cream. It's a keeper!!

This was certainly tasty. I did not use bacon because I did not have any at the time, and it was good without. Next time I would definitely cut down the cayenne pepper to a quick dash instead of the 1/4 tsp. It seemed like a 1/4 tsp. wasn't much for a big batch of soup, but wow did it hit you in the back of the throat going down. If my kids and I did not have crusty bread ( a lot of it to soak it up in between, and milk/water ( 2nds and 3rds we would not have made it through our bowls. Yes, I know it does say "spicy", but I was expecting a zip, not a kick...ha! Good soup though!

I have made this recipe many, MANY times! It is a family favorite. Aside from doubling or even sometimes tripling the recipe-I wouldn't change a thing...except make more bacon, LOL.

Very good. I omitted the bacon, not a big bacon fan. I used fat free half-&-half in place of heavy cream. I also add about 1/4 teaspoon cumin & used canned Mexican corn. I also puréed half of the recipe like all the others commenters very good.

This soup was very good. I used light cream instead of heavy cream and it was a little watery. I put some of the soup in the food processor to thicken it up a bit. Next time I will just use a little less chicken broth and/or cream. Very tasty. I did not use the jalapeno pepper. It had enough spice without it.

Super tasty. Made a few changes. Used chicken sausage instead of bacon (my daughter doesn't eat pork. Used jarred roasted red peppers since I didn't have a fresh red pepper at home and also used non fat milk instead of cream. I took some of the soup 5 minutes before it was done and ran it through the food processor to help thicken it then added it back into the rest of the soup. Then added the cooked sausage. Will make again.

So delicious and super easy to make! This will be a new family favorite! I especially loved the slight 'kick' of spice. It was not overwhelming and I totally could have added more if I wanted. It was perfect as is and we loved it!!

I made this a bit healthier by eliminating the bacon, using olive oil and butter to saute' the onions and peppers, and using 2% milk in place of the cream. I followed many other chowder recipies and also pureed half of the soup in a food processor. The starch from the potatos thicken it up nicely, and with all the spicy flavor nobody missed the fat. I also added a little fresh lime juice at the end to brighten it up.

I found this recipe on my Food Network app because it was a cold sunday, and I wanted to make some warm and comforting soup. This one hit the spot! It's definitely a spicy one, but delicately rich in flavor without being overwhelming. I added some chicken I roasted with garlic and pepper, and it was just fabulous! I entertained with the first pot (I had to make two, and froze the second in individual portions. They thawed and tasted just as good.
Great if you like spicy comfort food.
