Great recipe! I made this for my wife for Valentines Day. But instead of using several fruits per skewer, I just put large strawberries and 1-inch chunks of pineapple individually on toothpicks, and then dipped them, using the hazelnuts for half of them and leaving the other half "naked" (except for the chocolatefor a more interesting presentation. Also, I added a splash of Grand Marnier to the chocolate sauce, which made them especially yummy. I found that 1/2 recipe of the chocolate was about right for 10 each of the strawberries and pineapple chunks.

These are great; refreshing and delicious. They can be served as dessert or appetizer. I made them for two different dinner parties this past weekend and people raved about them. I only used pineapples and bananas to keep the fruits all the same size. The grapes I found were too small to go with the other two fruits. Definitely a winning menu item for the summer time.

Its best to use the freshest most firm fruits you can find for best tasting results! The hazelnuts were a great topping; unique and delicious

Saw this episode last week and can't wait to try this one for my hubby and I. Several comments were concerned about the bananas turning brown. Only one person said they really didn't turn brown. How about dipping the entire skewer of fruit in the chocolate and then only dip one side in the nuts? I wonder how that presentation would look. I'll try a couple that way when I make them. Another fruit I thought of that wasn't mentioned is kiwi or mango??? Maybe????

I made these the day before for a picnic date and the bananas did not brown- not really. Maybe the acid in the pineapple helped. Great dessert for summer. May have let the chocolate warm a bit too long...

please tell me why you present a recipe on television and then change the recipe for the computer. Example this recipe says to put skewers chocolate side up and Giada put then chocolate side down. This is not the first time this has happened. Please let's be consistent....

We made them on regular skewers for Valentine's day. Used pineapple, bananas, grapes, canalope and strawberries. We laughed so hard when people ate the pineapple. The contrast between the sweet chocolate and the sour pineapple created some of the funniest faces. Haven't laughed that hard in a long time. They were delicious though. I will make them again.

I want to try this for a valentine banquet tomorrow. I too am worried about the bananas turning brown, any suggestions.
