I subscribe Food Network Magazine and this recipe was in there a while back...I couldn't wait to try but it would have been 2 much for my family so...I waited until a SuperBowl Party and it was a hit (I added a few different cheeses and to keep the bread from getting soggy I put a container in the middle of the bread bowl or loaf that way if you run out of bread you still have the shell I have taken this to other gatherings and same result...PS friends make great guinea pigs!

I did change this up because of the mayo. I was going to two picnics over Labor Day and I worried about the mayo sitting out for to long. Instead of the mayo/oil dressing I used 1/2 cup Italian dressing. I also used sundried tomatoes packed in oil instead of fresh and did not add the lettuce but used it as a wrap. Boston and Endive lettuce leaves. I had read other reviews about the tomato and lettuce getting soggy so this seemed like a great alternative and it was. I also added Kalamata olives, roasted red peppers and fresh parsley . There was also a suggestion to rough chop and then pulse ingredients in a food processor. This does work very well. Chop the veges seperate from the meat. The cheese is easy enough to chop small by hand. I divided up and brought it to two parties! It went over big time. You really need to spoon this on it does not dip well but tastes great.

This was a very easy receipe to make. I made for a fantasy football draft. A few of the guys were a little hesitant to eat it, but as soon as I put a spoon in front of them and one of them tried it, it pretty much disappeared.

I forgot the provolone and just used sharp cheddar cheese. As another person commented, I added a little sour cream also. Very tasty!!!!

I don't like mayo so can I substitute the mayo with something else? Any suggestions?
