Since the creator of the recipe went so far as to replace the meat inthis dish, I thought it would be prudent to ensure that no one gets confused: Worcestershire sauce is not vegetarian friendly as it typically contains anchovies. An alternative is liquid aminos (Bragg's.

    Recipe is delicious!

Tasted delicious! Added shiitake mushrooms. Left out veggie burger meat and parsnips because I didn't have any on hand. Used better than buillion vegetable base instead of the water as suggested by previous reviewer. Family loved it and ate it all up, both the vegetarians and meat eaters. Will add more veggies next time like zucchini.

This is the tastiest shepherd's pie I've ever eaten and my family agrees! We don't miss the meat and actually prefer this dish to traditional pies with lamb or beef. It is easy to make ahead and either reheat or wait to bake it until you're ready to dine.

The hub's gave up meat for Lent so I made this. I substituted Guiness for the water- in
honor of St. Patrick. :. Very tasty!

I made this for a St. Patty's Day party last weekend, and it was a big hit. I will definitely make it again for my family. I used veggie burgers instead of protein crumbles. I doubled the recipe for our party, but I think next time, I would even put in more veggies with only a double recipe of the potato crust.

It was very good. The night before I made homemade veggie burgers (from another site, sorry Food Network! and I used those instead of store bought veggie burgers or soy crumbles. My 3 year old daughter loved and so did my meat eating husband. Very easy to make. I added peas and black beans to the dish. Next time I believe I will add Rotel to add a little spice to the dish (if you like spice, I would recommend it. I made everything in a pot and after the veggies were ready I move all of the veggies to a 13x9 casserole dish and then topped it with the potatoes. Loved it and will make it again. Great leftovers!

I searched for vegetarian shepherd's pie and this recipe popped up, so I can see why people would mistake it for claiming to be vegetarian. I never used turnips before, but was pleasantly surprised my the zing they added to the dish. I also added frozen peas, because it's just not shepherd's pie to me without the peas. Followed everything else from the recipe and it was well received by all.
