It was easy to make and was pretty good. I really enjoyed it. My wife and daughters gave mixed reviews. The fries were really good.

It was easy and delicious. I only had Spanish smoked paprika and I put less than it asked for and it was still kind of strong. I'll just omit it next time. And I also did not have any cayenne. I think it would probably improve it...but it was still very delicious!

Yummy for sure. I increased the amount of garlic powder, but that's just me. Great recipe.

This was absolutely delicious!! Simple to make and the batter was superb. My kids ate it up as fast as they could and wanted more! The Neelys always come through with their great assortment of recipes. Thanks guys...you both ROCK!!!

LOVE The Neely's and up until now, they have never let me down but I must admit that this recipe just didn't work for me. The first lesson I learned is not to try to make a recipe when I haven't seen the show. I'm sure their were probably tricks and tips that they may have mentioned to have this dish be successful but it looked simple enough and my family was really in the mood for a good fried fish. I echo the feedback of another reviewer in saying that the fish cooked up beautifully. It was both crispy and a lovely golden brown but even with all of the spices in the recipe, the crust was sadly flat and without the Neely kick we have come to expect and appreciate. I will continue the search for a good fried fish recipe but having found many other great recipes from the Neely's, they will definitely stay at the top of my "Food Network favs" list!

Gina and Pat you did it!!! I'm a college kid who loves to cook and everything came out wonderfully. Instead of Cod filets I used Whiting filets. Also I am not the most knowledgeable about beer because I don't drink beer but I used Yuengling as the beer. As others had stated in previous review the cup of beer was not enough, the batter was rather thick with just a cup so I ended up using the entire bottle of beer with about a remaining of 1/4 of a cup left. I just got the batter loose but not soupy, so the batter held to the fish. Also I added garlic salt and creole seasoning to the mixture because of the reviews of the lack of taste. None of batter was in my skillet after or did it came off the fish it was golden brown and coated the fish. I did the fries like the recipe but unfortunately I felt the boiling then the ice bath was a bit much when I could of just fried them and got the same results; I used red potatoes. In the tartar sauce I added horseradish sauce and grated onions.

Meh! I used cod and a cast iron skillet. It looked beautiful on the outside but lacked flavor on the inside. Texture was great until I got to the inside of the fish. Hated to throw it out because it was so pretty.

We tried the cod and it was wonderful. I have never made fried fish that tastes this good. The batter is great and I will definitely make this again. Thanks Pat and Gina.
