OMG!! I have my grandmother's buttermilk recipe and her doughnut cutters from years ago, but only made her doughnuts twice because it was such a hassle; and they weren't anything to write home about. THIS recipe is EXCELLENT!!! It was SO simple, but it makes way more than 6 servings! I lost count after the 14th one; and I was also frying the holes too. Anyone who wants to make doughnuts should try this recipe.

These were absolutely amazing. If I could give another star, I would. I agree with other reviewers that the lemon taste is not strong but still--they taste better than any doughnut I have ever purchased!

Tips/suggestions: Don't forget to zest the lemon before cutting it! I admit, unless a recipe says to zest first, I forget, and trying to zest a cut lemon is annoying.

Second, these taste even more heavenly with a lemon frosting--mix powdered sugar and lemon juice until you have a yellowish paste and drizzle on warm doughnuts~

I have always wanted to make home made doughnuts but thought they were complicated to make. This recipe was simple and quick. The only thing I would tweek is that you need a lot of flour for your surface and for the top of the dough when you roll it out because it will stick to your rolling pin. Being that you have to add the flour it would be best to add more of the flavoring becuase it will take away from the taste of the doughnut. Over all it was a hit with my family and I would definitely make it again.

I added more lemon juice for my taste and I was pleasantly surprised with the results. I plan to make more with my grandkids.

We used vanilla instead of lemon. Yum! Sticky dough but just used well-floured surface. Worth making.

This was a fun recipe to make with the kids...super easy , I ended up adding more flour, the dough as the recipe stood was way to sticky with out the extra flour...I also felt that there was not enough Lemon juice...In the show it showed them squeezing a half a lemon, Next time I will add a lot more lemon juice...

THe end product is quite good, but the real work comes in with rolling out the dough. The dough was way to sticky and needed quite a bit of flour to roll them out. But the flavor is quite good and my family and friends absolutley enjoyed eating them. Would make it again but would add extra flour to the batter to get a kess sticky product.
