This recipe is DELISH!!! It is a nice change to the "traditional" green bean casserole. I am not one for green bean casserole and this recipe changed my mind. Also, I cooked and chopped a half lb of bacon, put half in the casserole and sprinkled the other half on top with the onions. It was a SUPER hit in my house. The whole dish was gone! Thank you Cathy Lowe for changing my mind about green bean casserole! This recipe will make it onto my holiday table in the future, Guaranteed!

OMG!! so good and so easy. A really nice change from the green bean casserole that has been around for 40 years!! I used a 12 ounce package of fresh slender green beans from TJ's. I poured the mixture into the 1 1/2 qt corningware pan and baked at 350ºF for about 30 minutes or until bubbly. Lots of leftovers for more dinners:

Great Recipe! I too have added to it. I cover the top with SLICED Almonds and let them kind of toast up while baking. (cant use too many then put the dried onions on the last 10-15 minutes. Makes a great crust. Always serious compliments!
Also, plain or marbled chedder looks and tastes the same, why spend 6.99/lb for white.
Also, 1/2 and 1/2 half works fine for the cream.

I used fresh green beans and it is amazing how switching out a few fresh items (like the green beans and the mushrooms make such a drastic difference on a classic. This will be how I make green bean casserole from now on.

this is a good recipe but I changed it up. I go straight for mushroom alfredo sauce and use shredded mozzarella in the mix and some on top, cook til the top cheese slightly browns and top with fresh cooked chopped bacon bits. Even the kids love it.

I had never made a green bean casserole before, and this recipe caught my eye do to the fact that it looked like it would be creamy, and mushroomy! and it definitely was. I had to use 2 bags of cut green beans though because the can of soup and the cream definitely made a lot of sauce so i was glad to have the second bag of green beans on hand. my only complaint is that the beans were almost too crunchy, but the left overs were amazing!

I love this green bean casserole, and my dad who doesn't even like gbc will even eat it. It's delicious. I have never been sure about the amount of green beans ("one large bag" is not that precise. I always use frozen 16 oz bag, but sure seems like it could use more beans. Can anyone help me with this?
