This recipe needs adjusting. Like others, I followed the recipe perfectly, but the dough did not rise. There needs to be more liquid to dry ingredient ratio. It was a thick, sticky ball of dough. Don't try until FN adjusts this recipe--too costly! Very disappointing.

I made this for gifts a couple of years ago and it was delish! I then baked a couple more to keep on hand for company. I had no problem with the recipe. I'll be making again this year.

And, definitely do not give as a gift!! I would give it zero stars if possible. I am so mad right now about this recipe! I decided to make this for my mom for her birthday since she loves panettone and I couldn't afford to buy her a gift. I followed the recipe to the "T" and it looked like a big glob after I mixed it. Being an experienced baker, I knew it wasn't right so I sdded more flour (almost a cup, it still didn't look right, but I was afraid to do anymore to it. I thougt "Surely they know what their doing" after all it is FN. I should have trusted my instincts!! It never rose and now I'm baking it and it still looks like a glob. I want FN to reimburse all the mnoey I spent in these ingredients!!!!!

I was so excited to try this recipe that I made my own candied orange peel combining a couple of different recipes on this site. (The orange peels were very tasty. So imagine my disappointment when the dough did not rise, even though I had carefully measured the temperature of the liquid mixture and had put the dough in a warm oven. But rather than give up, I proofed some additional yeast, added it to the dough and let it rise an additional hour. The bread was delicious and well worth the trouble. I will make this recipe again, next time keeping the yeast separate and adding to the liquid mixture before combining with the rest of the ingredients. Makes great toast.

I am not a bread maker, but I followed the directions. I heated the ingredients to 120 F and added to mixture. It was sloppy like a mix between bread dough and cake mix. It did not rise at all. Very disappointing food network!
