These are grat and bring back memories. My son said he was going to "cry" they were so good. I'll surely make them again.

I love these Ina! I made these cookies last year and will make them again this year. So yummy. Recipe was spot on. I love how Ina gives you other ideas, such as the different fillings you can use. I made them with several different fillings. Ina is the best!!!

This recipe is great as it is but your fig jam substitute sounds yummy as I, too, love figs. My question is, where can I get fig jam? I have looked for it but have been unsuccessful.

These by far have turned into one of my kid's favorite Christmas cookies. What's really nice is that you can make the dough and leave it in the fridge. The kids love to roll them up. We usually end up making this cookie four times at least. I have four kids, and they love to pack them in their school lunch.

I made these last year and spread with Nutella and mini chocolate chips and they came out wonderfully! I am going to make again this year for sure!

I also use orange marmalade as a base, cocoa powder & chocolate chips.
    They are wonderful.

Robin, the apricot preserves gets spread on the dough
pieces. It doesn't get mixed in the filling. It's listed after the filling
    directions.
