These cookies are amazing. Good both warm and cold! One person commented that they are crisp rather than chewy, but I've found that if you cook them a bit less they're very soft and chewy. I like to make the icing a bit thinner by adding less powdered sugar so that it becomes more of a glaze. The decorating sugar isn't necessary.

To cut down on the sweetness of the icing, omit the green decorating sugar and use green gel icing color. Just a little on the tip of a toothpick goes a long way!

If you like the taste of lime, this is the cookie for you. It was really easy to make. It was crisp, rather than chewy. I used two limes for the amount of zest and juice that it called for. It is tangy to say the least; bursting with lime flavor. My batch made 36 cookies. The zest adds lime flavor to the cookie, but the juice in the frosting really sends it over the top. You can try the cookie without frosting, but the lime taste might not be very noticeable, nothing more than a sugar cookie with some citrus overtones. I guess it depends on your goal. I would use the frosting, but if it's too sweet, just use less per cookie. Stripe or drizzle them with the frosting, rather than covering the whole thing for a lighter taste.

The cookies themselves were tasty but the frosting was sickly sweet. I will most likely make these cookies again but without the frosting.
