This was super quick to throw together and easy to "tweak" to suit personal preferences. I added some Sambal for a little garlick-y heat and it complements the asian feel of the recipe well. The beef turned out super tender and the pinapple juice helped with the caramelization, adding to the flavor--great!

So I found myself on a much needed beach vacation and wanted to grill for my party. I went to this recipe for the first time but changed it up just a bit to suit my taste buds. I backed off the Soy Sauce to about 2/3 cup because I cant stand anything too salty. Bumped up the pineapple juice to 1 cup. I did not have the mustard so I thought a 1/2 tbs of cayenne would suffice. I even threw in about 1 tbs of cinnamon just cause I love it. I threw four thick NY strip steaks into a large zip lock bag with this brew and let them sit in the fridge for TWO days. When it came time to plate these medium rare strips they were literally falling apart. And the taste left everyone wanting more. Success

I tried to make steak this way and was not impressed with the result. Really really really salty, maybe next time i'll cut all the sauces in half portion to try this again, then the result would come out different. Thanks the restaurant and Guy for sharing this recipe with us.

I loved this marinade. love the bit of sweetness that the pineapple juice gave. my hubby and daughter thought maybe a bit salty I disagree i THOUGHT IT WAS PERFECT. I live very close to Kemah and have yet to try the original myself but soon enough. So glad they shared their recipe. Thanks Tom and Guy
also it does make a lot of marinade I used 4 tbones and I think half as much would have still done the trick. may also be a great marinade for beef jerky could add maybe cayenne pepper if you want some heat, I'm sure

With the exception of Renae from Carthage, Texas, no one is commenting about the marinade itself. I am going to try it, because both the soy and the pineapple juice will help tenderize the steak. I'd prefer we stay on subject, and if you found that you like the marinade, give credit where credit is due...to the chef from T-Bone Toms. This is not Guy's recipe.

I come to this site to get recipes. Today it was for a good steak marinate. NOT to read people?s opinions on things having nothing to do with the recipe. Please do me and everyone else a favor and STAY OFF THIS SITE.

Your comments are way out of order and obviously you are in a very , very, very, small minority as Guy's shows are among the most popular on TV. It would seem to me, an MD - psychiatrist - that you have some real issues that need some work. So you are right, turn Guy off and go to a shrink, you need it my dear.
