I made this dish to serve w/ the Spiral Ham recipe from the same Holiday Happiness episode. The recipe had a very good flavor as well as a nice presentation. As far as the 2 Tbsp of salt is concerned, I took it for a typo and found that 1 tsp of salt worked well for our taste. I also exchanged the mayo w/Miracle Whip. I was a hit...everyone loved it. Thanks Aaron!!!

This potato salad is very good with the exception of too many eggs and too much salt. Four eggs and one tablespoon of salt would be acceptable.

The overall recipe was delicious, but, 2 tablespoons of salt was TOO much for my family and I. So, we had to throw it out. I'd definitely make it again with 1 teaspoon and season to taste as necessary.

People, please!! How can you review a RECIPE if you haven't even MADE the recipe?? This forum is for recipe reviews, not opinions as to whether a Food Network host should wear an earring or not.
I liked this potato salad recipe but I was concerned that 2 tablespoons of salt would ruin the salad, so I started with 1 teaspoon and it was sufficient for our tastes. I also added 2 additional tablespoons of lemon juice (love it tart! and, as I had some, about 2 teaspoons of chopped fresh dill to the mix which made it so delicious! I think the ratios were pretty good (mayo to potatoes, onion to potato, etc. and the consistency was nice. I would definitely make these again.
I'm so sorry that the ratings were thrown off by viewers who were excited about trying the recipe, but hadn't done so. It is these reviews which give others an idea as to how the recipe tastes, and giving his earring 5 stars doesn't help.

I'm headed to the grocery store today with my printed recipe in hand. Cheryl in MI questioned the 2 tablespoons of salt. It's probably Kosher salt which is a much larger grain, so the red bliss potatoes Would absorb that amount well. I'm with Dara in CA, cruchy smoked bacon would be great especially if not serving the Spiral Ham. For New Year's Eve, I will add large grlled spicy shrimps AND the crispy smoked bacon topping. It's sure to be the first empty platter.
My husband enjjoys watching Big Daddy on TV too, it was our 'guilty pleasure' for missing church on Sunday. A Big Daddy Cookbook would be AWESOME!

I read this recipe and it brought back such good memories of summer time in Virginia at my grandmother's. My only question is, 2 Tablespoons of salt?

I've never submitted a comment before but after watching you prepare the Christmas dishes and reading the previous comments I was moved to, I skipped Church today just to see your show on the West Coast and boy was it a worthwhile experience. I've have been inspired to prepare these same reciepies for my family's Christmas dinner all except the Ham because my husband does'nt do PORK. But boy would I love to taste some along with the mouthwatering Potato Salad. Anita 12/06/09 OH suggest you get rid of the earrings but I disaggree. Keep the earrings, they Look Good On You.
