This recipe was not only easy but delicious! I throw all the ingredients into my crock pot and left it while I was at work and 6 hrs later it was delicious! I plan on using the leftover pork by combining it with some bbq sauce for sandwiches tonight, yum!

I was looking for a change and decided to give this one whirl. I did change a few things. I only added the juice from the lime and the orange to the pot as I was afraid that it would be too citrucey for my family. I did not have the orageno, so that did not go in the pot. Turned out absolutly delicious! Family loved. We preferred to eat them with flour tortillas. Boys ate it all. That's the best compliment you can get. Thanks so much.

My first time ever making carnitas. I always do a tester meal on my husband so I won't embarrass myself to the public. I left out the rinds of citrus because of all of the reviews. Thanks for the tips, I always read them for all the help I can get. My carnita's came out perfect, perfect, perfect.
The only thing I screwed up in was putting my oven on the wrong setting. I always manage to screw something up..It's my MO with cooking. You can't screw this one up. Low and slow is the way to go. These crazy new ovens have about 5 choices on them. I picked the econo-maxi broil and about an hour and a half into it, the pork was looking like it needed another hour plus. I put the oven on convection at 325 and it started smelling so good. I checked about every 20 minutes, and it took about 3 hours.

My sweet husband loved it, and he is very vocal and honest about my cooking.
I caught him eating it cold out of the fridge the next morning.

Now I have to have more family over to eat the ton of leftovers.

I made this for the first time tonight and it was a huge success. Similar to some other reviews, I did find the citrus flavours a bit overpowering, so I added a couple tbps of brown sugar and bbq sauce to even it out. It was just what was needed to appeal to my personal preferences. Overall, it's a delicious and super easy recipe that can be used for tacos or burgers. Another win for the Neely's!

The best pork tacos I've had! I have nothing bad to say, and the Mexican Rice that went along with this recipe was amazing as well. I'm not much of a cook, but the recipe was easy to follow and turned out perfect!

wouldn't change much of the recipe, but I always like to use them as a base.
this really parallel's a good Carnita's recipe, Pork is tender with lots of flavor, if this tasted bad you did something wrong, The slaw is off the hook I hate cole slaw but this is far from it, I loved the addition of a Lime-Cilantro creme for taco's.
I also use it for pulled pork sandwich with the slaw and BBQ sauce.
Love the Neely's, good southern people.

I'm going to review the recipe here and not the people. That's what this is all about, right? So, I thought this recipe was very good and easy. Next time though I would just add the orange and lime juice and not the actual fruit. I thought it gave it a slightly bitter taste. That's just my personal opinion. Definitely take the short amount of time it takes to make the slaw. It was perfect with the tacos. My husband, who does not like cabbage or slaw, even thought it was great. He suggested we have the leftovers on a sandwich or bun. I will make this recipe again because it was so easy and tasty.

This recipe was fantastic. I didn't change a thing, just followed it like the Neely's showed on T.V. I ate mine in a taco and it was fantastic. My husband ate it as a pulled pork sandwich and said it was one of the best pork sandwiches he's ever had. Really easy and delicious!!

These are truly great. The critical reviews made me worry but the proof is in the tasting - WOW! In hindsight all the bad reviews were from folks that didn't follow the directions, or are just plain kitchen impaired. Love your show, love the ideas you bring to our table!

I have been thinking about these tacos since the show. My mouth has been watering! So, today when I look up the recipe, I see all these comments. Seems like most of the comments are positive! Good! I am from Texas, but have lived in Memphis more than 20 years. The Neelys are the REAL DEAL on their show. AND YES people here say "ya'll" different. Haven't you ever heard Paula Deen? The dialect here is very different from Texas - more "delta". So, continue to ROCK ON Neely's and I can't wait to try this recipe!
