Great flavor! I agree with most posters that the consistency was a little mushy but I would make them again. Maybe I would dry some bread crumbs or oats in addition to the flour. I didn't do the sauce that went with but was great with just cheese and ketchup!

I love love this recipe. I have made black bean burgers before, but this was tastier. Yummy!
I love spicy foods, however I was making this for the family so I used half of what was called for like the hot sauce and red pepper flakes. Still delicious.

These are easy to make and delicious and way, way better than the frozen store-bought variety! My husband loves them.
They are a little mushy, though, so in the future I might try making them with a dried bean rathern than canned to try to get a better texture. If you quick soak the beans it wouldn't be terribly inconvenient.

Once again I found myself wanting to expand my culinary horizons outside the realm of beef burgers and I stumbled on Aaron's recipe. Lately, I've been sampling veggie/bean burgers at restaurants and wanted to try making them myself. I really enjoyed these but I need to work on the texture a bit. They seem to be more like a bean cake than a burger and the flavor could've used some BAM...Next time I make these I'll add a little cumin and the entire egg instead of just the whites. All in all though, I enjoyed these tremendously and taste was fantastic.

These burgers are excellent. They were very easy to make, and tasted amazing. My one complaint was that they were a little too spicy for my taste (I prefer a pretty neutral burger and then to jazz it up later I didn't put in any red pepper flakes and you could change the hot sauce and paprika to a 1/2 teaspoon and still have a delicious burger. I froze all the burgers in between sheets of parchment paper and ate them for lunch over the week and they were amazing. This is a much tastier and cheaper alternative to store bought bean burgers!

I've made many bean burger recipes and these are by far the best. The sauce takes them tio a whole new level. My husband (not a vegetarian, just married to one had never tried a bean burger before and said he wasn't about to eat one now. He changed his mind when he smelled them cooking. He was impressed. I thought if I'm going to serve them to my daughter or others who don't like a lot of spice I would sub teriyaki glaze for the szechuan sauce.

These really need to be refrigerated before cooking so they stay together. If you're grilling them, maybe even freeze them first. The flavor is delicious though. I didn't add cilantro and it was still very good.

I made these for me and my husband. We both LOVED them! The sauce is ok, but I actually like these better with the traditional burger toppings. The red onion and roasted red pepper toppings do really go well, though. The burgers themselves are great. They get a nice crispy crust from cooking in the oil and they smell almost meat-like after they are cooked. Highly recommend. These also reheat quite nicely in the oven.

Very good recipe. I added a few ingredients of my own. First, I sauteed about a quarter cup each of finely chopped onion and red bell pepper in a small amount of oil. I added this to the black bean mixture along with some minced garlic and cumin. I omitted the Szechuan Tomato Dressing and served it with homemade guacamole instead. Served it with sweet potato fries. The burgers turned out a little mushy, but they still tasted great! Will definitely make again.
