A very tasty, smooth gravy and went well with the pork chops. I wanted to try it because I had some beer leftover from making beer bread at Christmas. I didn't have dark amber, however, it was still tasty and a good use of the beer. Recipe was easy to follow as well but I did use an extra tablespoon of flour. A keeper for sure.

Made this for my girl this week. She had a hard week. I didn?t want the pickled apples and onions so used a recipe for sauteed apples and onions from an earlier 30-minute episode. Met her at the door with a glass of wine?let her get comfortable and used that 5 minutes to finish the gravy. We both raved about the taste through the whole meal?and so easy. And only one pot for the potatoes and one pan for everything else. And then I did all the dishes. My girl was very happy and?.grateful.

used a amber beer and didnt notice any beer flavor at all-gravy was a little thin so used more flour. just a bit of bacon did the trick-not a dish for low sodium users as it was a bit salty. a gravy a little more like the german potato salad sauce i make would have made the meat even tastier.

I made this tonight per the recipe (using a premium dark german beer, and the concentrated beer flavor really overwhelmed the rest of the dish. With regards to the suggestion "amber to dark German beer" I would move more towards the amber in the future... even a lager maybe. I am a bit of a beer-snob though, so I'm particular about the levels of this kind of flavor in my food. I may try it again with my favorite beer. My husband loved is as-prepared. :-

We made this for dinner tonight after seeing the show. It was super easy and very tasty. I dont think we let the beer reduce enough because it was a tad bitter but we sure did gobble it up. We boiled red potatos and just seasoned, put parsley and a touch of butter on them just like Rachael did on show. Will make again!

I made this recipe exactly like Rachael and thought the gravy needed something. I did not like the beer in the gravy and thought the taste was over powered by the onions. If anyone else omitted the beer, what did you use instead?

I don't like beer, but I loved the gravy. The porkchops and gravy were excellent. I'll make this again.

When I saw this recipe I remembered we had one bottle of dark beer sitting in the fridge. Fixed for supper this evening, along with the new potatoes recipe from the same show. My husband & I both enjoyed it; he said it's a "fix again." And start to finish was under 30 minutes!
