As everyone else says, the salt content is absurdly high. I made it as the recipe called knowing I can handle salt but this was out of control. I felt the spice was right on though.

Leave out the 2 tbls off salt completely. The broth has plenty and if you taste it and find you need more you can do so. Other than that this recipe is spot on. Even though the salt content was high it was still delicious and dipping the Funked Up grilled cheese in it hit the spot.

I will make this again, no doubt this is going to become a staple in my winter time dishes and for my daughter. As soon as I saw the recipe today I made it.

Also I don't think people should drop 1 star reviews because of this minor change, especially when they didn't even try it first.

This is a great recipe, but the measurements are not what was on the show. Olive oil should be 3 to 4 tablespoons, not 3/4 tablespoons. He only added a pinch of red pepper flakes, not a tablespoon. Salt and pepper should have read teaspoons, not tablespoons. I love Big Daddy's shows, but whoever is typing out his recipes needs to be way more careful. This is a great, flavorful soup, but not the way it is written.

I do agree that it is a lot of salt, but salt to taste. I am also going to use the low sodium chicken broth to cut it down more.
That is the beauty of cooking... being able to make changes to adapt to you

This soup is too easy and tastes great. It did call for a ton of salt, I just didn't put it all in, just salt to taste! No more Campbells for me.

This soup is delicious but it calls for waaaayyy too much red pepper. I would put maybe a half tablespoon of red pepper instead of a whole tablespoon. Almost too spicy to eat!

My husband wanted me to make homemade soup! He was working on one of our tow trucks. I was cool in our shop. I remembered your show! I looked up the recipe. It was just right I also made the cheese sandwich. we had french bread and all the other ingredients. We live in our shop. We're workaholics (they say. I was perfect! We were invited for a BBQ later& didn"t want to eat a big meal. Thank you!

Two tablespoons of salt plus the salt in the chicken stock. Aaron, really? I'm a fan, but I won't even try this recipe (but had to rate it to post the review. There must be a tasty and healthy tomato soup recipe out there somewhere. I'll keep looking.
