This recipe has deservedly received 5 stars from everyone except two trolls who trashed the recipe without trying it. The first time I had a Shandy was at a pub in London back in 1983, and was surprised to find that light ale and lemonade are a wonderful combination. The second time I had a Shandy was a couple of days ago. It was THE perfect refreshment for the hottest Oklahoma June since 1933. There is a variation called Rock Shandy, of African origins, which is equal parts lemonade and soda water with a dash of Angostura bitters, which I have not tried, but would offer as a nearly non-alcoholic alternative.

Such a treat for someone who's not a beer lover! Gwynne is just jealous... ignore her .... she's not worth the time!

In Britain, they often make a shandy with beer and Ginger Ale. Also very refreshing.

I'm not much of a beer drinker, but this is really refreshing. Will be a great addition to the beverage choices for our Superbowl get-together. Thanks again, Melissa for all your great ideas

Delicious! Have tried store bought beers with lemonade mixed in. These are far more refreshing. Thankfully I had these ingredients on hand. I liked with Leinenkugel's Sunset Wheat beer.

Will probably make them often this summer!

Are we supposed to be able to make all these recipes for $10. If so, there's no way I could buy all these ingredients in my area for $10.

I will try them though. Especially the tuna tapanade. Sounds great.

We drink these alot in the summer time. I have also heard it called a"Shandy Gaff". Half wheat beer, half lemondade. Nice drink if you are not that into beer and want something different. Even better with real lemonade.

The show has even aired.... Gwyne has taken all of Melissa's recipes and trashed them without probably even trying them.... someone need to monitor these reviews. I think Melissa is a breath of fresh air - I don't love all her recipes, but I sure don't give poor reviews before the show is on the air - it must be sad to walk around so negative all the time. Hang in there Melissa.

Drink the beer or drink the lemonade, but for goodness sakes, don't mix the two. Gross!
